Narmada Swami joined ISKCON at Juhu, Bombay, during 1981, after having met Bombay devotees during the Rathayatra festival organized by ISKCON at Surat, Gujarat. The Rathayatras organized at Surat during 1980 and 1981 were grand events, which were attended by hundreds of thousands of members of the public!

Back in 1976, when Srila Prabhupada was informed of her serious disease (provoked by a near-fatal car accident while traveling to distribute his books), he instructed Rudrani to tolerate her diseased condition while pursuing her devotional life despite all inconvenience.

On Friday night Yogamaya went to sleep at 8.00pm. On Saturday morning she woke at 12.00am and as she was in some discomfort the devotees present begun a soft kirtan. Yogamaya also joined in this kirtan and although her shortness of breathe made it very difficult for her to chant, she continued with determination.

We went to her house and saw the Deity. She was performing the worship very nicely, decorating with flowers. She offered up the prasad to the Deity, and she sat us down to take prasada. And she proceeded to do her best to bust us over our capacity with so many preparations of sukta and sak, vegetables.

Shanti told her to concentrate on the picture of Vrndadevi (in gopi form) that was on the front cover of a very nice hand made get-well card (11"x16") in which the devotees had written their well-wishes. After a few moments, Rudrani responded, "I see the real Tulasi. I have to go now!", and left her body!

Like others, I wish that I had done more for you while you were here--and had more of your association. But knowing that you are with Srila Prabhupada, and that we have been left here to serve you both, gives solace.

You fortunate persons around the world, Just hear the words of Srila Prabhupada! His vibrations have the power to deliver you from all fears. Just take, just try!

Today is such a sad day to remember as Srila Prabhupada disappeared from our external vision, one of the things that mitigates separation from Srila Prabhupada is reading his letters. I recall in Vrindavan every day devotees put a letter on Srila Prabhupadas desk, and devotees after mongal artik would come to Srila Prabhupadas house and pay obaisences and chant there, it is such beautiful rooms.

At the end of one of lectures Srila Prabhupada asked for questions. One middle-aged man - apparently a Christian - stood up and said, "I am afraid there is no religiosity present here whatsoever!" Srila Prabhupada responded immediately, with a look of genuine concern, "Oh, you are afraid?"

This is dedicated to the lotus feet of Bhaktiswaroop Damodar Gosvami Maharaja in which an analysis of formally marrying Science and Spirituality is envisioned. Srila Sripada Maharaja has been a pioneer in this area and therefore this is being dedicated in his memory.

We beg the mercy of the Vaishnavas that we can continue our service of assisting our beloved Guru Maharaja, Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami, in his service to Srila Prabhupada. For us he has not left, but has simply decided to now give guidance to his sincere followers in a different manner than before.

After the G.B.C. assembly in Vrindavana, Svarupa Damodara had traveled to Manipur and Calcutta and was now returning to Vrindavana to see Srila Prabhupada. As soon as Prabhupada heard Svarupa Damodara had arrived he asked to see him. As usual, Srila Prabhupada treated him very specially and gave him much time and attention.

They came into Prabhupada's quarters wearing suits, so he called for chairs. Maharaj and the other scientist disciples protested, because his disciples never sat higher than Prabhupada, who was sitting on the floor. Moreover, Prabhupada would not have tolerated such a violation of etiquette from a disciple. Still, Prabhupada insisted, and showed them how much he appreciated their efforts.

Then bringing Maharaja carefully down the steps of the temple, the devotees took him on parikrama of Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir three times. His disciples sweetly chanted a nice Manipuri melody of Hare Krishna Mahamantra. The procession moved very slowly and reverentially around the parikrama path. After the third round, Maharaja was taken to the Samadhi Museum and there was a huge surge and rush.

Acharya Srila Bhaktisvarupa, Damodora Swami, Sripada Maharaja, the founder of Manipur branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON, at Airport road, passed away early today at 2.10 am, at his residence quarter cum administrative building of BhaktiVedanta Institute Mission, BIM, Manshi building, Kolkata, after suffering a BP stroke.

Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami (Dr. T. D. Singh) was born into a Vaisnava family in Manipur, India, in 1937. His main services were developing ISKCON in Manipur and developing dialogue between scientists and religionists.

Please bless me that no matter how much I falter in my attempts to be steady devotee, one day I can follow your footsteps and make my life successful by remembering Krishna intensely with loving devotion when I leave my body.

“Krishna is My life. Now My life has gone out. I cannot see Krishna, I cannot find Krishna.” He cried piteously when Haridas Thakur disappeared. “Krishna is so merciful. He gave Me the association of such a dear devotee who was always with Krishna. But now he disappeared, so I cannot feel the presence of Krishna who is My life. I am without life, I am without life.” That is how one should cry.

Bhakti Swarupa Damodar was not only a promoter of Vaishnava culture, he was himself a great Vaishnava singer, who sang like a Gandharva for the Deity's pleasure. On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to all of his disciples, followers and friends, and to the members of his personal family.

We the members and servants of the Governing Body Commission of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, express our profound bereavement on the passing of our dear Godbrother and fellow Governing Body Commissioner Sri Srimad Bhakti Svarupa Damodara Maharaja, the beloved disciple of ISKCON Founder-Acarya His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

With great regret the Mayapur management wishes to inform the community of devotees about the disappearance of Srimati Gauri dasi, the granddaughter of Srila Prabhupada, her three years old daughter Yamunangi, and her brother-in-law, Sriman Sri Hari dasa.

Kausalya dasi: I would like to tell this because I think it is one of the sweetest exchanges. We had so many wonderful exchanges. In India, Prabhupada was very.. It was a very intimate group. There was a very small number of us. There were only five women and how many men? Ten? Fifteen?

We are eternally indebted. No one had heard of Krsna in the West. You were the emissary, the pioneer, the divine agent sent by Lord Caitanya to awaken the Western world from the sleep of ignorance. You are the most exemplary preacher of the Lord, always concerned for the welfare of all living entities for the suffering of all the souls in this world.

‘Is your name Bhaskara?’ ‘Yes.’ The sannyasi said, ‘Srila Prabhupada has a message for you. He thanks you very much for the new slippers. You may keep the old slippers. But most importantly, he said, it’s not nice to play tricks on the spiritual master.’”

Srila Prabhupada didn’t say a word. Kirtanananda finally ran down, and Srila Prabhupada asked, “Are you finished now?” When Kirtanananda acknowledged that he was, Srila Prabhupada suddenly began to roar like the lion incarnation.

Srila Prabhupad’s first disciple is Acharya Prabhakar. I believe he is still alive. Srila Prabhupad had lived with him in a single room for over three years in Jhansi. They talked all the time and note this, in Sanskrit. Referring to this disciple Srila Prabhupad told me “he speaks Sanskrit better than we can speak in English, he is that expert.

Recently on occasions of speaking about Bhakti-tirtha Swami I've talked about very close early association with him on the library party when he was a rough gem, he was actually an unpolished gem, but he actually was a fully potent gem in his ability to sell books to college professors by hook or crook.

June 18, disappearance day of H.H. Bhakti Tirtha Swami. "What concerns me is that we want to be more mindful in everything that we do so that everything we are doing is an offering to Krsna or it's a prayer."

By 1979, the Radha-Damodar Traveling Sankirtan Party buses were all broken down or dry-docked, and I was serving on the Indian library party out of Bombay. Tamal Krishna Goswami called me in Bombay and asked me to return to the United States to take a bus on the road again.
