My name is Dharmasetu Dasa. I am a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. I joined in Boston in 1973 and I came here to San Diego in 1977 for a visit and never went back. I've served here at this temple in many different positions: Head Pujari, Temple President, Bhakta Director for about eight years.

Bhakta Mike is one of the latest new devotees at Iskcon of San Diego. An activist at heart and a spiritual seeker, Bhakta Mike quickly found our temple attractive and the Sastra Dana missionary activities appealing.

Mayapura, West Bengal - Trustees of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT), the publishing arm of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, reported today at ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission Annual General Meeting in Mayapura, West Bengal, that its international sales for the year 2007 had increased by 28% over the previous year.

Sastra Dana San Diego collected $19,473.30 out of which $3,005.215 went for miscellaneous expenses. The balance of $16,468.09 was used for purchasing books for distribution. Sastra Dana Los Angeles collected $15,812.26 out of which $3,657.075 went for miscellaneous expenses. The balance of $12,155.19 was used for purchasing books for distribution.

I was working in the Soviet army. I spend quite some years also in the Afghanistan war. It was so nasty experience that I wanted to orient myself to more peaceful atmosphere. So I joined the Moscow Institute that trains KGB staff.

In June 2006 all congregation devotees in Czech Republic got an opportunity to take part in distributing BBT books. We were inspired by already running Sastra Dana program for distribution of sponsored literature in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Srimad Bhagavata Vidyapitham, the BBT's Sanskrit School for training brahmanas and new translators, has just purchased over five acres for its brand new campus.

The best years were those early years of Book distribution, Street Sankirtan and prasadam. You know, we never even drank a soft drink in those days, if it was not prepared by devotees and offered to the Dieties, then we would not eat.

He was very excited and said, "You know, I've taken drugs for the past twenty years, but for the past sixty-five days I've been sober, and so many amazing things have been happening. This is another one. It's not by chance that I'm meeting you. God is giving me so much direction."

Thirty years ago I was doing the Prabhupada marathon at the Chicago airport.
