ISKCON has been organizing Mayapur and Vrindavana parikrama since many years and thus giving the opportunity to spend time glorifying these holy dhamas to thousands of devotees from all over the world. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu considered three places very dear: Navadwip-dhama, Vrindavana-dhama and Jagannath Puri-dhama.

By now you must have come to know that ISKCON Mayapur and many of the surrounding villages are affected by flood. Although this year’s flood is not as big as in the year 2000, still it has brought damage and suffering to ISKCON Mayapur and nearby villages of dham-vasis. But despite all our inconvenience we badly need to help the nearby villagers who are in very distressed condition.

Kausalya dasi: I would like to tell this because I think it is one of the sweetest exchanges. We had so many wonderful exchanges. In India, Prabhupada was very.. It was a very intimate group. There was a very small number of us. There were only five women and how many men? Ten? Fifteen?

We are eternally indebted. No one had heard of Krsna in the West. You were the emissary, the pioneer, the divine agent sent by Lord Caitanya to awaken the Western world from the sleep of ignorance. You are the most exemplary preacher of the Lord, always concerned for the welfare of all living entities for the suffering of all the souls in this world.

He will think, "I don't like pain, so why should I give pain to an animal just so I can eat?" You have to read my books and you have to study and learn my books just like a lawyer learns the law books. You must know everything chapter and verse. If you do not know, how will you teach these men unless you know my books.

We should know that any facility to enjoy in this material world is maya’s trick to somehow or other distract away from the urgent need to be Krishna conscious. Listen carefully to Srila Prabhupada’s voice when you listen to his lectures. There is always that deep sense of trying to give us the feeling of urgency. It has to be done now!

Conversely, unsteadiness in our execution of Krishna consciousness is caused by lack of maturity in our faith & devotion, thus permitting impediments or "unwanted things in the heart" (anarthas) to prevail. For sadhakas, or those of us in the practicing stage of devotion, as long as unwanted residual desires (anarthas) are present in the heart, there is experience of unsteadiness and struggles.

The holy command of Shri Guru has been that we shall serve Godhead in association with one another. By the word ‘we’ he did not mean any one individual. There are many persons who are very selfish, indeed. They say, ‘I alone shall serve. It is incumbent on me alone. No one else has any claim to join me in my service of Godhead.’

We are still trapped by the water in Youth Forum bld, Gosala area. We could walk to the temple in water upto our chest, but both of our healths isn't good at all. We do get out a little only around Gosala area, as it is less time to spend in cold water than trying to go to the temple.

Gangamai is slowly coming once again to touch the lotus feet of lord Nrisimhadeva.Slowly the water is raising at a steady pace.All the day school and Housing is now totally flooded and water level is already 4 feet to 5 feet.I saw many childrens having fun in the water in the housing area but as a pathologist we always have a microscopic view! I feel following Health precautions have to be taken !

Floods in Mayapur are usually caused by release of water from various Dams which are about 100km upstream. Around noon, the local government officials informed ISKCON management that they were releasing water down stream gradually. ISKCON Mayapur management immediately swung into action and convened a meeting of the Department heads at 4:00pm to discuss preventive measures and relief action.

Mother Ganga touched the Lotus Feet of Sri Sri Radha-Madhava in the year 2000, but she has not come to greet the new Pancha-Tattva Deities, installed only 2 years ago. A rather dry rainy season was coming to an end . no one expected any flood in Sri Mayapur this year. Then the news came – the dams are too full and the Government has opened them up, in a few hours we will have a flood.

Bhaktivedanta Hospital at Mira Road ,Thane district, Maharashtra has taken the responsibility of establishing a HOSPICE in VRINDAVAN to serve the dedicated devotees of ISKCON at the last stage of their life. The present situation with regards to Srila Prabhupada's rooms at the Radha Damodara Temple is that ISKCON won a recent court decision in Mathura. The court ruled that ISKCON was in legal possession of Srila Prabhupada's rooms, and should not be illegally dispossessed of those rooms. The City Magistrate was to turn the rooms over to us, but there was a local strike at that time, and the order wasn't issued right away

One of the purposes of the Dandavats website was to provide a medium where devotees could express their Krsna conscious realisations, so please don't be shy in sending them to us. An automatic benefit of sending your realisations, given the nature of the medium, is that they will reach the eyes of many many souls. As websites are available for everyone to read, who knows who might read and be inspired by your words?

As I consider myself "within ISKCON", I consider that what I do is "within ISKCON". Vrindavan Lila devi dasi has a series of images from yesterday tracking the progress; however it's now 5.30am the following day, and the waters have risen a minimum of 2 ft overnight. In the grhastha area (where I am writing from, and where I'm trapped until my gardener returns with our boat!), the water is around 4- ft high in some parts...

Sri Mukunda dasa Gosvami points out that if one observes Kartika-vrata in any place other than Mathura and without any attachment for the Lord, then such a person, receives the boons of bhukti and mukti from the Lord, and not bhakti.

The silly point is that we protest about the star shown as a smoker, but not about the same star being shown as a drug-dealing gangster or an underworld don. When movies blatantly exhibit sex, rape, addictions, crime, violence and murder, and when movie stars are today’s perverse role models, isn’t it silly to be shocked when the same happens in society?

When our children go to school to be indoctrinated with the thesis that we are just walking mechanistic soul-less bags of chemicals, which yell ouch! when its c-fibers are firing, being mere units of stardust hurtling mindlessly through outer space for no reason whatsoever, except through the velocity of the fateful detonation at the beginning of time, a nasty trend is set.

We find a growing conception among uneducated devotees that ISKCON's success depends on not rejecting any type of so-called spiritual ideas. This monstrous misunderstanding needs rectification. Srila Prabhupada wanted multitudes to enter the open doors of Lord Caitanya's loving sankirtana house, yet all unauthorized misconceptions and bogus practices carried by the members were to remain outside.

The court had barred the city from enforcing its ordinance pending the outcome of litigation. The principal challenger was the Society of Krishna Consciousness of California, one of the major solicitors of airport travelers.

We have a very interesting story of how Rupa Manjari devi dasi became a practicing vaisnava. She graduated from the university majoring in political science. She had a serious drug problem while studying, but due to some accident she gave that up, that is when she started to believe in God.

Let us suppose a Spiritual Master tells a disciple he wants to rest due to tiredness, and requests the disciple not to wake him up under any circumstances. Let us also suppose that after some time, the president of the country comes quite by surprise and asks for an audience with the Guru. Is the disciple going to ask him to wait and apologize profusely, sticking rigidly to the order?

Eleven year old Orissa Kelly, who attended Bhaktivedanta Manor’s nursery and gurukula, has won a myriad of gold, silver and bronze medals and cups in gymnastics.

A devotee has given his whole life to serve this mission, and then he becomes very sick. He needs help. He lays sick on the floor “I can't do my service.” And we say, “You are in maya. You are not the body.” “Thank you. Philosophically it's true: I am not this body and I am in maya, but I need your help to get out of maya and transcend this body. I am not qualified, but when my Guru Maharaja gives me a task I should make myself qualified, otherwise I will lose what I have. Krishna is like a brightly burning effulgent sun. If you do not deserve, if you don't qualify yourself, how can you remain before this blazing sun? You'll be burned to ashes. First, qualify yourself.

Our relationship with our spiritual master, our relationship with Krsna–these are eternal. We might be in brahmacari-asrama for some time, we might be in grhastha-asrama for some time, and then we may enter vanaprastha-asrama, and in the case of some, sannyasa-asrama. Those are external, and those are part of the gradual process of purification.

Our spiritual master said that in this material world a boy naturally desires a girl and a girl naturally desires a boy, and they come together in holy matrimony to make it sacred, and they advance in material prosperity and spiritual prosperity together. I think that is a nice definition of love: “to be concerned about the needs of your beloved.”
