When I joined in the mid 70's there were two main activities that we concentrated on; one was book distribution and the other was harinama sankirtana (street chanting of Hare Krishna). Of course other activities took place and I don't wish to minimise them but the above two were what most of us felt were what most pleased Srila Prabhupada.
URI will bring together over 300 members and friends for the second Global Assembly, “Pilgrims of Peace: Many Paths, One Purpose,” in Mayapur, (November 30 to December 5, 2008) including delegates from nearly 400 CCs, over 100 young leaders from around the world
No incidents of attack or casualty are reported from any of the three temples of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) located in Mumbai at Chowpatty, Juhu and Mira Road respectively.
It is with great shock, outrage, and sorrow that members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, (ISKCON), have learned of the horrific terrorists attacks in Mumbai, India, against hundreds of innocent people.
The glory of Srila Prabhupada's book is immeasurable, "Chant and be Happy" was the first book of Srila Prabhupada I read in January 2004. Each time I read Srila Prabhupada's books I relish ever new sweet nectar.
By Indradyumna SwamiFor most people the New Year begins on January 1st. For me it comes in early October, when my yearly worldwide preaching tour finishes and I head to Vrindavan for spiritual rejuvenation.
By Gour Gopal DasKrishna consciousness is the alchemy that transmutes a fool to an intelligent being. It is a proven fact that anyone who comes in contact with Krishna consciousness movement becomes “chatur” or intelligent.

When I joined in 1971, I felt a great fear of isolation and alienation from “normal” society. I thought that my world had shrunk and that I had only a few eccentric monks as my social circle. My future seemed lonely.
By Jaya Gopala dasThis Festival was so special because HH Indradyumna Swami was present together with Sri Phralad das. The filipino devotees were very Happy and Exstatic during these festivals.
We arrived back at the farm around mid-night and everything is fine- relief, super soul was just showing me that there is danger at every step, no need to worry. Entering the parking lot proved to be a different reality. As I parked the car and looked over my left shoulder, the Guest Cabin bursts into flames...!
By Dasarath Suta dasThis article is about fifth in a row Sri Sri Nitay Gauracandra Harinam party tour, which is trying to spread the glories of the Holy Name all over the Croatian coast during the summer season. We were travelling from one town to another, performing two Harinams daily.
This is a short letter to express my thanks for your response in sending letters to Kazakh Embassies and the Kazakh President's Administration. Your efforts have seemed to slow the Kazakh government from another quick round of ruthless behaviour.
The history of the establishment of the great temple in Puri, and the hypocrisy of temple priests as opposed to sincere devotional worship in pure love of God. Written by the Thakur in English, 1871
By Deena Bandhu dasDuring the Ardha Kumbha Mela a couple of years ago, I reported how we invited all the Vaisnava Mahants to come to our ISKCON pandal and take prasadam. This was a great victory for Srila Prabhupada as they accepted us as being in a bonafide sampradaya.
By Gopijan ballab das Despite the tense situation in Puri following the incident of burning of effigy of Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON Sri Kshetra Parikrama was a grand success with 6000 devotees participating in the parikrama. The entire three days program was full of bliss without any disturbances and it was peaceful.
By Anuttama dasaWhatever criticisms an individual or a group may claim to have with ISKCON, to purposefully offend a Vaishnava saint in such a blatant manner is irreconcilable with the principles of Vaishnavism, Hindu culture, morality, and common decency. We condemn any and all such acts.
By Sahadeva dasaIn order to turn the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad overnight into a London or Newyork, the zealous Andhra Pradesh Government invoked Land Acquisition Act on ISKCON Secunderabad Temple on 5th Novemeber affecting the temple and most of its land.

You may have noticed two things in recent days. The election of Barack Obama, the first African-American to become the President of the United States, and nationwide protests to the passing of Proposition 8 in California of all places, which strictly defines marriage as being between a man and a women, leaving out people of same-sex relationships from this social status and benefit.
Srila Prabhupada’s vision for spreading the Sankirtana Mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu encompassed four principles or four waves, which he coined as the “four-fold Gandhi movements” in his 1949 letter to the Honorable Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the then Deputy Prime Minister to the Government of India in New Delhi.
A sign of a good leader is that he does not request those under him to do something that he is not prepared to do. So before we desire to distribute this Vedic culture to the whole world, we ourselves have to be following it in such a way that nobody can find even a minute discrepency in our practice.
In Hyderabad, India, a group of leading Indian scholars recently held a National Seminar on “Vedic Astronomy and Cosmology”. During the two day of presentation most of the eminent astronomers proudly pointed out that the results for the corrections of planetary positions of the Siddhantas are even nowadays more accurate than the modern astronomical values.
I was very saddened to hear the envious behaviour of some of the pandas which led to the burning of the form of His DIvine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad in front of the Jagannath Temple.
As an outside observer I can assure you that people around the world in the academic community will view this as an outrage; and one for which you as the Chairman of Sri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee must take responsibility. Hindus worldwide who will read about this atrocity, will also not take it lightly.
We encourage ISKCON leaders, all disciples and followers of Srila Prabhupada to immediately express their outrage via petitions and personal complaints to Puri Temple administrators and officials. Please direct your letters, faxes and phone calls to the following individuals
Recently, I came upon a nice discussion between Sripad Keshava Krsna and Pusta Krishna Prabhus about the difficulties which naturally entail ascertaining, training and sustaining real and pragmatic leadership and management within a religious institution.
