His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami Visits London- 6th,7th,8thoct,2011

Srila Prabhupada said that “50% of my mission has been completed”. The remaining 50% was to establish the ‘Daiva Varnasrama Dharma’.

Iskcon Daivi Varnasrama Ministry – National minister – H.H. Bhakti Raghava Swami has been travelling many countries preaching about Daiva Varnasrama Dharma.

By Krishna’s mercy, we were fortunate enough to get Maharaj’s association for 3 days, here in London, after 3 long years.

On the first day (6th oct), we conducted a small house programme with couple of devotees and an inspiring speech by Maharaj after which each one of us had a lot
of mercy and plenty of time to have personal association of Maharaj.

The highlight of Maharaj’s visit was going to the Bhaktivedanta Manor on the 7th oct, where many devotees showed a keen interest in Daiva Varnasrama Dharma. Maharaj had meeting with various devotees including a 2 hour visit to the Goshala, with the head manager of the Goshala – H.G. Shyamasundara prabhu.

He gave us good information about careful handling of the cows and the bulls. The Bhaktivedanta Manor started with 17 acres of land and now, by the mercy of Srila

Prabhupada, they have expanded to 77 acres of land.

It was amazing to see how carefully the cows are handled at the manor. They have a special shed for sick cows, where treatment can be provided for them separately.
The cows are allowed to face their natural death once they are old and can no longer be helpful, which we do not usually see now a days.

May be I am ignorant about other goshalas or cow protection schemes. But I would definitely include Bhaktivedanta Manor’s Goshala in one of the top list for cow protection because I was surprised to see one cow, who was in one of the fields grazing and who had a cloth wrapped around its face. When we inquired about it, Shyamasundara prabhu replied “The cow was suffering from eye cancer and had to undergo a surgery. She still has to go through radiotherapy.” I was amazed to hear this. The cow was actually taken care of like we would care for a human.
This is actually Go-raksha. Along with cow protection, they also have farming and many devotees volunteer for farming and cow protection.

The manor has an “Ahimsa Dairy Foundation”, which is bringing about a revolution in the way milk is produced. They give a guarantee of 100% pure organic milk.

Maharajs also had a meeting with H.G. Gopala lila Prabhu, who has started a project entitled “The Bhumi Project”, which deals with protecting mother earth. Their 5 steps
1. Cut out Red Meat.
2.Go Veg.
3.Kind to cows.
4. Buy consciously, but cruelty free.
5. A life built on compassion.

In the evening, maharaj gave a wonderful presentation on “Daiva varnasrama dharma”, explaining clearly how Srila Prabhupada identified 4 movements or “waves” for establishing Lord Caitanya’s movement :

Sankirtan movement.
Deity worship movement.
Spiritual initiation movement.

4. Classless society movement. (Varnasrama)

The 4th movement remains largely unfulfilled. The highlight of the presentation was Srila Prabhupada’s last instruction video when he was leaving his body :

“By hearing or by discussing Srimad Bhagvatam, this rajo guna and tamo guna are subdued. Then sattva guna remains.

‘Nasta prayesu abhadresu nityam bhagavata sevaya’ (S.B. 1.2.18)

Then rajo guna and tamo guna cannot do us harm. Therefore , Varnasrama dharma is so essential that people remain in sattva guna.”

The presentation ended by a funny but a meaningful animation showing how the cities would collapse one day all of a sudden and people would have to start with simple living.

The next day maharaj was giving a morning class at Iskcon Soho temple in London. Maharaj concluded the lecture by the follwing statement said by srila prabhupada:

“Srila Rupa Gosvami explained that the highest place to reside is by the banks of Radha Kund. But even better is one who brings Radha kund consciousness and spreads that all over the world” and that is what srila prabhupada did.

On the 9th morning , maharaj left London to go to Krishna valley, Hungary., where he is attending conference on varnasrama – Pillars of Sustainablity .

One of the important realizations that I had during maharajs visit was whether you are a temple president or just a mere cleaner in the temple, we are all equal for Krishna and what will actually determine our going back to Krishna is a simple , sincere desire to be with Krishna always and love and respect for his devotees.

Hare Krishna.

Hare Krishna Radha Dyuti Devi Mataji,
    Please accept my humble obeisances,
    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Thank you for posting this Article. His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaj recently visited California before coming to London. Maharaj Visited different ISKCON temples like at San Jose,Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, Denver, Dallas and few more. Maharaj emphasized to understand the urgent need of implementing Daivi Varnasrama in today’s modern day society. Maharaj met senior devotees in our community like H.G Banabhatta Prabhu,H.G Ravindranath prabhu and all the devotees greately appreciated His Holiness work.

Maharaj gave a class in ISKCON of Silicon Valley ( ISV) temple at San Jose about important themes of Bhagavad-Gita connecting that with Gita Nagari. Srila Prabhupada wrote an essay Conceptions of Gita Nagari. This essay appeared in Back to Godhead magazine in 1956 and basically this is about Srila Prabhupada realizations and insightful prediction about building community or establishing communities. Gita Nagari means a place, a community or that village where all of the residents living as example of Bhagavad Gita or “ Bhagavad gita in action “. Recently I was reading H.H Lokanath swami Maharaj comments on Daivi Varnasrama and Maharaj commented (CC Madhya 8.58) “varnashramachara vata purushena param puman, Vishnur aradhyate pantha nanyat tat tosha-karanam” The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Vishnu, is worshiped by the proper execution of prescribed duties in the system of varna and ashrama. There is no other way to satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One must be situated in the institution of the four varnas and ashramas”Harer namaiva kevalam, Varnashramaiva kevalam! The quoted verse is originally from Vishnu Puran 3.8.9.

    Thank you!
    Hare Krihsna!
