Priyavrata das: To all those that have been following the discussion around my open letter to Bhakti Vikasa Swami.
In response, my ESSENTIAL point is this:
EVERYONE needs prasadam. Srila Prabhupada wanted that EVERYONE should get a chance to take prasadam. If some person or organisation is helping to facilitate this critical component of the sankirtan mission, then they need to be encouraged, NOT discouraged.
I am too busy trying to fulfil this desire of Srila Prabhupada to waste time arguing over something that should be plainly obvious. If you don’t get it, too bad for you.
Sankirtan and prasadam distribution are the foundation of ISKCON. The books TELL us this essential truth.
Let’s be inspired by the efforts of MDM and other FFL projects and inspire them to do better and better. For ISKCON to succeed it has to pull its head out of the clouds and embrace the world with genuine compassion. Stop the “holier-than-thou” attitude, talk to people as family, and really love them as the beautiful spirits they are. We read that Krishna is our best friend. Well, He is also the best friend of everyone else, and he clearly shows that by providing the conditioned souls multiple opportunities to come back to the light. Remember, we are all on a journey. Taking one step at a time, we gradually get closer and closer to our true home. Everything a devotee does is auspicious for the world. Those that serve devotees are also creating auspiciousness and helping souls make progress. Why waste time arguing about the mechanics of devotional service? Our service is ours alone. So embrace your own journey and be a cheerleader to others.
Just love people and encourage them. Distribute prasadam or help someone else do that. Chant the holy name or encourage someone else do that. That is what the world needs.
