Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Today we received the testimony of the experts from Kemerovo State … University. As it should have been expected, it is highly negative.
We uploaded the petition. It is self-explanatory, and formulated in such a way that not only ISKCON devotees can vote. Please feel free to share this link.
Please find below the text of the petition. On the site it is both in Russian and English.
Bhagavad-gita As It Is, one of the most respected holy scriptures of the world today, is under the threat of being banned in Russia.
The court proceedings will resume in Siberian city Tomsk, Russia, on Monday 19th. The prosecutors in Tomsk suggest that the widely distributed book translated and commented upon by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada should be included in the Justice Ministry’s list of banned extremist literature.
Bhagavad-gita As It Is is translated in more than 80 languages. Over 100 million copies of this book was distributed to date all over the world! Millions of people in the world today consider it as the main book in their life.
The prosecutors with great determination and vigor are pushing through this absurd case. During the first three court hearings, the testimony of the Tomsk experts upon which the prosecutors built their case for the court was recognized as «inadequate». However, the prosecutor’s office ordered the new testimony. Noteworthy, that the testimony was requested not from the well-known experts of Hinduism from Moscow, but from some unknown experts from Kemerovo State University. This move clearly suggests that the court decision is already predestined. This practice brings to memory the Middle Age Inquisition, Witch hunting, burning of books and the persecution of the dissidents during Soviet period of Russian history.
Tomsk Ombudsperson, eminent scholars of Hinduism, the members of the Public Chamber of Russian Federation, representatives of Indian community in Russia, and people belonging to different religious denominations in Russia have already expressed their perplexity and outrage caused by the activities of Tomsk prosecutors.
We demand to stop the court over the Holy Scripture! These initiatives of the Tomsk prosecutor’s Office offend the religious sentiments of all the followers of Hinduism and bring disgrace to the country of Russia.
Once you sign the petition - you will receive e-mail asking you to confirm your vote. This is very important - otherwise it will be canceled.
And please share this link to your friends.

The new “Church Law” in Hungary will take away ISKCON Hungary’s church status as of January 1st requiring us to re-apply for the same next year.
However the government has not provided any legal stipulation for the society’s continued ownership of Krsna Valley’s lands in the interim period until we are again re-registered. In short we risk losing Krsna Valley with no pasture for our cows or land to grow our food. I therefore request that you sign the online petition-link below and forward this message to as many people who would also petition against this injustice.
Thank you. Sivarama Swami.

To The Hungarian Government,
I am truly disturbed to learn about the new “Church Law” that will take effect soon in your country. As I understand it, this law will virtualy impose persecution for the followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, also known as the Hare Krishna movement. This is totally unacceptable behavior for any government, particularly in the name of religion as it is a betrayal of the uplifting values of any civilized society. The teachings of the Hare Krishna society are timeless, and they are recognized as genuinely authoritative by some of the most respected names in the world of politics and science, as well as in theological and religious circles world wide.
As leaders of a country that has a history of cultural wealth of its own it behooves you to make the proper adjustments to your policies regarding the religious practices of the Hare Krishna faith. Such a correction will serve the spiritual interests, peace and well being of not only your own country, but for all of humanity at large To neglect to do so constitutes religious discrimination and will result as a great disservice to both your own country, thus becoming an embarrassment to a country that is supposed to take great pride in its history or rich culture.

The Hungarian devotees in Krsna Valley have proven that their lifestyle and practices are a benefit to the Hungarian people in general. What is the need for re-registration of their organization every year? It appears to simply be harassment. Let these peace-loving, intelligent people practice their faith and let them share it with others. They are only a benefit for your country.

As a minister of religion and general secretary of the Hindu Community Council of Victoria here in Australia, I feel that the greatest welfare work and genuine spiritual practices are performed by the members of the Hare Krishna Movement worldwide.
Especially so the members of the Krsna Valley property in Hungary which is a part of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness which is now recognized and respected as being the international leading Vaisnava Hindu religion.
As such our organization and myself support the petition to re-register Krsna Valley with Church status in Hungary.

Please allow the good work of the Hare Krsna community in Krsna Valley to continue. They are doing the highest welfare work for human society and are setting the ideal example of “simple living and high thinking.” Our status as a bona fide religion is well accepted and documented throughout the world. Kindly do not discriminate against these devotees who are fully engaged for the benefit of all human society.

Please let Krishna devotees stay on the land that they have cultivated so well for many years now. They have built a community based on the principles that are good for the whole of humanity. I hope you can allow them to continue serving the people of Hungary while utilising the same location.

It is completely unacceptable that the government officials, who are supposed to see to the welfare of the people, allow themselves to change laws at their own whims, apparently to serve their own interests, or the interests of some other influential party, and against the interests of the general public. The world economy is quite unstable at the moment and it does not show any signs of improvement for the near future. Therefore, projects like Krishna Valley are of crucial importance for the general public since it shows a practical example of a simple and dependable way to insure the sustenance of one’s family and one’s community, while being minimally affected by the ups and downs of the unreliable world economy. Therefore I urge you to either reject the new “Church law” or to amend it in such a way that will NOT affect the already established Church status of ISKCON Hungary. It is the government’s duty to protect the people and to help organizations that do good to the public. So ISKCON Hungary should be helped in its mission, not harassed by new laws that serve the interests of only a few.
