By Dr. Madhavananda Das

This is to inform that Romapada Maharaja was taken ill today in Mayapur and has been transported to the Birla Heart Centre in Kolkata. He has symptoms of breathlessness and chest pain on the right side. At the moment he is conscious but on oxygen.

After the initial tests, it was revealed that there is a mild dysfunction of the heart muscle and x-ray of the chest also shows some abnormality. The senior cardiologist has planned some more investigation on Monday and a final diagnosis may come only after that.

Doctor Saksi Gopal Das from Bhaktivedanta Hospital is accompanying Maharaja at present.

Please pray for his recovery.

Hare Krishna.

Our prayers go to the lotus feet of Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu on behalf of our senior ISKCON Vaishnava, HH Romapada Swami. We are sure that given his dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s Movement, years of service, and current services, Romapada Swami is well sheltered no matter the outcome of this temporary illness.

Yours in the service of Srila Prabhpada,

Hare bol,
All devotees over 45 should get their blood pressure checked by a doctor and take medication for high blood pressure if necessary. So many older devotees get heart attacks or strokes that can be prevented by proper blood pressure medicine. -especially over weight devotees….

We are praying to Krishna to help HH Rompada Maharaja, as he is dedicating his entire body, mind, and words to helping all living entities by serving Srila Prabhupada’s movement.

Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I pray that Krishna cradles Romapada Maharaj in His hands and that He keeps him in His heart.

Instead of only suggesting medication I think we should take a look at some ways we can manage devotees health more naturally. More sattvic preparations, less oil and less salt would be a nice way to start. Some spices such as ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon to name a few, are quite tasty and beneficial to the health. We have many devotees, and especially most of our sanyasis are getting older and need to be a little more watchful of their diets. We should learn from them and start now to improve the quality of the prasadam before we’re all taking medication, which should be, in my opinion, a last resort in our struggle to maintain our bodies so we may be better able to serve Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
