“In this endeavor there is no loss or diminution, and a little advancement on this path can protect one from the most dangerous type of fear”.
With these words of Lord in their heart, the devotees of Bangalore Congregation spent the entire last one month performing devotional service of Lord Krishna. The devotees from Iskcon Kumaraswamy Layout, South Bangalore under the leadership of Temple President HG Narahari Caitanya Pr celebrated Iskcon Krishna Janmashtami Festival last month on 9th, 10th and 11th of August 2012. The Festival was organized in two places simultaneously. The two venues were Iskcon Kumaraswamy Layout, South Bangalore and other in Chamraju Kalyan Mandapam, Jayanagar, Bangalore. Organizing in one place itself requires a lot of planning and human resource but celebrating festival in two places for a temple which has not even completed one year is an amazing devotional act of pleasing the Lord.
Undoubtedly, this was made easy by Lord’s special mercy and immense hard work put up by devotees. Especially for Iskcon Kumaraswamy Layout, it was the first Sri Krishna Janmashtami Festival organized after the temple opened in October 2011. At both the places more than 20,000 darshanarthis visited and took part in festive activities. The devotees have been organizing the sarvajanik festival in Jayanagar for more than 7 years in row which is a remarkable feat in its own.
With loads of love, enthusiasm & dedication, two separate teams of devotees celebrated Lord’s Birthday in grand style in both the places. Programs included Abhishekam of Radha Krishna dieties, non-stopping ecstatic Kirtan by group of devotees, round a clock sumptuous distribution of Krishna Prasadam. Highlights were many stalls that were put up for interacting with visitors for the Lord’s birthday. There were stalls for Youth Preaching, Bhakti Vriksha Group, Book distribution and many others. Thus exhibiting pure devotional love for the Lord, devotees’ humble mood pleased the Lord and that set an ecstatic flavor for the whole Festival.
The devotees had a single agenda, to shower love and affection to all the visitors who came to the festival. Understanding the mood of Lord Chaitaniya, devotees in Bangalore are emphasizing in cultivating more and more new people in the movement by spreading the message of holy name. During Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival, loads of contacts were registered. And to bring them into devotional circle, they were invited to two well organized programs last week in the Kumaraswamy temple layout. For youth devotees, IYF is currently conducting 6 weeks seminars for introducing them into devotional climate. We pray to the Lord to bless Bangalore Yatra that all such new visitors pick up the devotional service and perfect their lives.
Overall the entire occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami brought loads of pleasure and enjoyment in each one’s life. This is a huge success of devotees hard work; sincerity and love for Lord Krishna. It is in these temples of International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) that devotees come together and serve the Lord to their heart’s content. With some of the ecstatic devotional experiences in this past one month devotees are in upbeat mood and continuing their devotional service. We all pray that each year we serve the Lord in the similar way.
