Dear Bhakti Vinod Thakur,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to you!!

We are gathered here on the most auspicious occasion, the disappearance day of Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur to offer the results of our Monthly Sankirtana Festival (MSF) of plundering the storehouse of prema, which was held for little over one month here at ISV.

Lord Chaitanya ordered Nityananda as follows:

suno suno nityananda, suno haridasa,
sarvatra amara ajna koroha prakasa,

prati ghare ghare giya koro ei bhiksa,
bolo krsna, bhaja krsna, koro krsna siksa

“O hear Me, hear Me Nityananda! Hear Me Haridasa! Simply disseminate My order everywhere. Go from house to house and beg [the residents as follows]: ‘Speak about Krishna, worship Krishna and teach [others] about Krishna.'” Caitanya-bhagavata, Madhya-lila 13.8-9

In Vaisnava-siddhanta-mala, you mentioned:

boro sukher khabor gai surabhi-kunjete
namer hao khule’che khoda nita

“I am singing news of the greatest happiness! At the place known as Surabhi Kunja in Sri Navadvipa, the Marketplace of the Holy Name has now been opened and Lord Nityananda Himself is the Proprietor.”

In your original Nama-hatta essay entitled, Sri Sri Godruma-kalpatavi, you mention that the storehouse of that market place is Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Nityananda is the principal trader and you call yourself the sweeper of that market place.

Srila Prabhupada brought this storehouse to the western world. Following in your footsteps, ISV devotees tried to plunder that storehouse and distributed the contents everywhere.

Goals of this MSF were:

  • Make a brochure and sell at least one blockbuster book package

  • Distribute at least 75 Srimad Bhagavatam sets from May leading up to disappearance day of Thakur Bhakti Vinod.

  • Distribute at least 2500 Bhagavad Gita’s

  • Send Expedition team to a new location.

  • Distribute all the wristbands.

To realize these goals, Team ISV distributed Srimad Bhagavatams sets at different venues and publically chanted the holy names in a grand Harinaam at Palo Alto

Highlights of this MSF are:

  • We had a grand temple opening and HG Rasika-Shekhar Prabhu’s picture and plaque was installed outside the book room.

  • Many teams including the kids Sankirtan team and smart box team participated in this book distribution. Sacramento and Folsom devotees also made special contribution for this MSF.

  • Srimad Bhagavatam sets were profusely distributed and some devotees made personal goals of distributing sets to friends, family and acquaintances.

  • Huge success was seen in distributing sets doo-door. Visiting devotees from India also joined the team and distributed sets.

  • For the very first time, complete set of Srila Prabhupada’s books was packaged together for home library.

  • Srimad Bhagavatam sets were distributed to Afghani family and Morman family.

  • Our new dispatch director Selva Prabhu dispatched sets and wrist bands to other states.

As we make this offering of the MSF results, we are pleased to report that all the goals had been successfully met and surpassed and smashed.

  • A brochure and special set, which is called the “Perfectly Complete Library (PCL)”, was designed by Rasikananda Prabhu, which includes all the books that one needs to make spiritual advancement. This set was priced at $1008.

  • Wristbands with the message “Tax Your Brain” and “Get 20% More” were dispatched to various temples.

  • An expedition team was sent to Haight Ashbury Street in San Francisco.

With respect to the books:

In all:

• More than 61 devotees participated in book distribution

• Team ISV distributed 30,164 in book points which includes

  • 10 Chaitanya Caritamrta sets

  • For the very first time 6 “Perfectly Complete library (PCL)” sets.

  • 7,064 Bhagavad Gita’s surpassing the goal of 2,500.

  • Total of 143 Srimad Bhagavavatam sets were in two months surpassing the goal of 75 sets and 87 Srimad Bhagavavatam sets were distributed just last month.

• Team ISV raised $50,106 in Laxmi surpassing the previous year’s total of $17,936

We thank all participating devotees, donors and our Sankirtana leaders who contributed to this MSF. The enthusiasm of the devotees was contagious. We thank our Sakirtan leader Sri Krishna Purusottama Prabhu for continued payers and support even from India. We express our deepest gratitude to our beloved leader HG Vaisesika Prabhu for encouraging and guiding us on how to please Bhakti Vinod Thakur.

Today we pray at the lotus feet of Bhakti Vinod Thakur to continue to shower his blessings on team ISV.

BVT ki Jay!! Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan ki Jay!! Sriman Mahaprabhu is Jay! Sri Sri Laxmi Narasimhadev ki Jay!! Srila Prabhupada ki Jay!!

Your servant,

    Hare Krishna
Special congratulations to Malini M too as she was single handedly spearheading the campaign after Sri Krishna Purshottam Pr went to India.
The 87 Bhagavatam sets and the 143 in 2 months must be looked at with a perspective that BBT-USA doesnt distribute more than 100 sets to all the temples in USA. We had to wait for a long time for BBT to re-order the books when they ran out of sets last year.

We have seen that people are receptive to get SB sets at their homes, we generally also perform a small installation ceremony and there are other follow up progs in place so that these souls can be slowly be attracted to this Sankirtan movement.

Temples all across USA should use this as an inspiration to distribute SB sets.

    Hari Sankirtan Das
