By Tamoharadasa (ACBSP)

Reading recent articles by the devotees here and elsewhere, it seems there is some misunderstanding in the thought s of some as to what constitutes true religion. My concern is that statements supporting the world’s scriptures, other than those of the Vaisnavas, will lead many into a dark well from which they will be hard put to escape, or perhaps they will attina a lower status than they might have. The following exerpts will clarify what is the actual position…

Quoting from the book “Trnad api sunicena” by HDG Gour Govinda Swami Tahakura, Iskcon guru and acarya; “It is said that the Lord’s merciful energy is subordinate to His willing power, but in the case of Sriman Mahaprabhu it is the reverse. Mahaprabhu has granted this independence to his krpa-shakti. Mahaprabhu would not have distributed His prema, the most confidential secret, to one and all indiscriminately, if He had not given this independence to His krpa shaktri. Therefore Mahaprabhu’s mercy is so wonderful. His krpa-shakti was distributing love of God, love of Krsna, krsna-prema. Krsna Himself had not given prema when He appeared five thousand years ago in His own swarupa as Krsna. In any incarnation, he has not given prema, but when He came as Mahaprabhu, He distributed it freely, indiscriminately, giving full independence to His mercy shakti. That is Srimati Radharani’s mercy.”

“Mahaprabhu shows how He is under Srimati Radharani. Here, there, and everywhere, Radharani gives the order to distribute this love to one and all. Radharani is so merciful. This is Radharani’s order.”

“The incarnation of Sriman Mahaprabhu - gaura avatara, is the best of all incarnations. One and all should come to the fold of Sriman Mahaprabhu whatever one may be. If one never comes to this fold, one cannot get this prema. He may get something else, he may even go to Vaikuntha, the opulent platform, but he cannot get Krsna prema, unless he comes to the fold of Sriman Mahaprabhu. That is the ultimate thing. So one and all, everyone, should come to the fold of Mahaprabhu.”

“Water water everwherre, but not a drop to drink. You are such an unfortunate person, you are in an ocean of watwer, but you are so thirsty that you cannot quench your thirst. Mahaprabhu is distributing this prema. This flow of prema is a flood, it is an inundation. … but these Mayavadis cannot quench their thirst.”

Following Srila Pranhupada’s footsteps, our Gour Govinda Maharajah has pointed out the un-compromised, un-whitewashed highest thing, and urges all to accept the teachings and mercy of Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Otherwise, love of Krsna will not occur. Those who promote other processes or religions, or who suggest that other religions and their scriptures are “on par”, should note the clear understanding of our Vaisnava acaryas. There is no compromise allowable if one actually wishes to attain the highest goal of life, pure undaulterated love of Krsna, and to distribute this highest thing to others.

Thanking the Devotees and taking their dusts;

Dear Tamohara Prabhu,

Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Thank you for this nicely put together presentation, and for the reminder of what fortunate souls we are to be given a chance to accept the highest goal in all existence. There is no question of the placement of Krishna prema, nor is there anything to compare. While it is true that there are various instructions from Krishna in different places - most very explicitly talk only of elevating one to heavenly planets, merging with the brahmajyoti, or at the highest attaining santa-rasa or dasya-rasa - it is only through the mercy of Lord Caitanya and the Vaishnava acaryas that the living entity can achieve the highest and most intimate of madhurya-rasa.

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!
