On 23 February 2014 devotees from Sri Jagannatha Mandir, Kuala Lumpur were instrumental in spreading the holy name in Kampong Ambar Tenang, Dengkil. This is one of the small villages which is approximately 40kms away from the city , a palm oil plantation estate and has Indians as its majority population. It was remarkable that devotees have taken effort to go and spread Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mercy to a place where Krishna consciousness was unfamiliar.” I never knew how a hare Krishna person looks like..this is the first time I am seeing hare Krishna people face to face…” commented one of the residents from the village.
Harinam started from the Sri Murugan temple at 5pm and went through almost all the houses in the area. Needless to say all the houses were very happy to welcome the “Hare Krishnas”to their houses and 70 houses offered archana to Their Lordships Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga. It took around 6 hours to complete harinam going through all the houses and the procession ended at the Murugan temple at 11pm. Though it was a long walk devotees were enthusiastic to preach even at 11 in the night. A total of 29 Bhagavad Gitas and 50 small books were distributed and 70 chanting beads were sold. 350 packets of full meal Prasadam was distributed.
The president of the local Murugan temple has given permission to conduct Bhagavad Gita classes at the temple on a regular basis. He also has invited ISKCON to do kirtan and have a booth at their kumbhabhishekam in two weeks time.
This was made possible by the arrangements of H G Atmaram Prabhu and the harinam team.
“To deliver all fallen souls, the Lord traveled from country to country. He personally tasted the transcendental pleasure of devotional service, and He simultaneously spread the cult of devotion everywhere. The followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu may therefore take this movement seriously and broadcast it throughout the world, from village to village and from town to town, just as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself did.“(CC Madhya 25.264 Purport)
