Dear Devotees Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
40 years ago the ISKCON Edinburgh centre closed and everyone involved, including Srila Prabhupada, was extremely disappointed. Since then we have not had a preaching centre in Edinburgh and even in forming a Vaishnava community we faced many difficulties, but recently Krishna consciousness has started to flourish here.
A few years ago devotees started to appear in Edinburgh. Some joined us from abroad and some local people started to take up devotional service.
Edinburgh Nama Hatta will be celebrating its 21st year this month. We now have nine serious devotees who attend nama hatta programs, preach together and have become close friends. This body of nine devotees seriously wants to please Srila Prabhupada by opening a Hare Krishna centre in Edinburgh.
We have taken the blessings of the senior devotees at Karuna Bhavan Temple and are determined to make our dream come true.
To do this we are needing support from the wider vaisnava community.
We hope to get a storefront where we can hold regular talks on the Bhagavad Gita, have kirtan and have a free Sunday feast. Our plan is to become financially independent by raising funds through BBT book distribution, a prasadam take-away service and a gift shop.
We are already fund raising and need to add £200 a month to our budget and are looking for that extra support which will see us through the first year.
If you cannot do this, please donate what you can. What you give in Laxmi we can give back with our enthusiasm to spread Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission!
All donations will go towards paying for the rent and running of the center.
Please help us to open the first ISKCON centre in Edinburgh in 40 years.
