Bhaktivedanta Hospital at Mira Road ,Thane district, Maharashtra has taken the responsibility of establishing a HOSPICE in VRINDAVAN to serve the dedicated devotees of ISKCON at the last stage of their life. Hospice means a Professional Medical Centre which takes medical, emotional, social and spiritual care of terminally ill patients and of their near and dear ones .We will have 8 beds in this Hospice in Vrindavan and along with this in-house services , Home care plan will also be established wherein terminally ill devotees will receive Hospice care at their residence in Vrindavan if they prefer to stay at home. The construction of the hospice at Vrindavan has just started.
A project Manager and a Civil Engineer are looking after this work locally and a Team of Experts is supervising the progress of work from Mumbai. A team of two doctors ( Husband and Wife) and The Chief Nurse, all initiated devotees in ISKCON, are already appointed from January 2006.They are under rigorous training currently in India and will be trained in San Diego Hospice in USA for three months during early 2007. We plan to start the services in Vrindavan by the end of 2007.
For this most awaited Hospice Project, we additionally need FIVE qualified nurses. Details of requirements are as follows:
a) Qualification—-Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized school of nursing from India with a work-experience of 3 to 4 years in a reputed institute. Fresh candidates can also be considered.
b) A devotee of ISKCON chanting 16 rounds of Hare Krishna Mahamantra, following four regulative principles, under the guidance of a senior devotee WILL BE PREFERRED. Others with known background can be considered.
c) The nurse can be a MALE or FEMALE. d) Basic Computer literacy is required.e.g. data entry, e-mail, independent correspondence etc.
e) Fluency in SPOKEN AND WRITTEN English, and reasonable command over spoken Hindi is required. Most of the patients are likely to be western and senior disciples of Srila Prabhupada, including Sanyasis ,GBCs and Gurus.
f) He or she should have an aptitude to nurse a terminally ill patient, should have a compassionate attitude of service
g) He or she will receive specialized training in Hospice and Palliative Care of terminally ill patients in various Palliative care Institutes in India like Tata Hospital , Hospice at Calicut in Kerala etc , for a period of one year, before joining the Hospice at Vrindavan. Special Training in Spiritual Care will be provided at Bhaktivedanta Hospital. These various training opportunities will be fully sponsored. Ongoing professional training will be offered by trained staff in Palliative Care in-house and through internet clinics in Vrindavan Hospice.
h) He or she will be provided with FAMILY QUARTERS at the premises of Vrindavan Hospice with basic furniture and air-conditioner.
i) Husband or Wife of the selected candidate can be considered ,if qualified, for a suitable post in Vrindavan Hospice.
j) ATTRACTIVE SALARY PACKAGE WILL BE OFFERED COMMENSURATE WITH THE EXPERIENCE IN NURSING.( in the range of 12 to 16 thousand rupees per month )
k) All the personnel benefits of Provident Fund, Privilege Leave , Casual Leave, Sick Leave at par with any other Medical Institution will be provided.
