Bhakti Vikasa Swami: With thanks to Sujitendiya Prabhu and Madhava Devi Dasi, Mayapur.

sonaro nava gauracandra
nagara banayari
nadiya indu karuna-sindhu
bhakata-vatsala-kari

The golden new moon known as Gauracandra wanders on the streets of Nadia. This moon of Nadia is an ocean of mercy and a bestower of love and affection upon His devotees.

vadana-canda adhara ranga
nayane galata prema-taranga
candra koti bhanu koti
sobha nichayari

His moonlike face, His red lips, and the waves of love emanating from his moist eyes defeat the loveliness of millions of moons and suns.

kusuma-sobhita cikura cancara
lalate tilaka nasika ujora
dasana motima amiya hasa
damini ghanayari

His curly hair is beautified by flowers. His forehead and nose are resplendent with tilaka. His pearl-like teeth and His nectarean smile are like lightning amid thick black clouds.

makara-kundala jhalake ganda
mani-kaustubha-dipta kantha
aruna vasana karuna vacana
sobha ati bhari

His makara-shaped earrings sway gracefully on His ears, and His throat shines with the kaustubha gem. His yellow garments and His plaintive voice are exceedingly lovely.

malya-candana carcita anga
laje lajjita koti ananga
angada balaya ratana nupura
yajna-sutra-dhari

His limbs, decorated with garlands and smeared with sandalwood paste, put to shame millions of Cupids. He wears bracelets, jewelled ankle-bells, and a brahmana’s thread.

chatra dharata dhara-dharendra
gaota yasa bhakata-vrnda
kamala-sevita pada-dvandva
baliye balihari

Ananta-sesa, the carrier of the earth, holds an umbrella, and the devotees sing His glories. His lotus feet are constantly served by the goddess of fortune, Kamala. Oh devotees! Sing His excellent glories!

kahata dina krsna-dasa
gaura-carane karata asa
patita-pavana nitai canda
prema-danakari

This lowly Krsna-dasa aspires for the lotus feet of Gaura and for the savior of the fallen, Lord Nityananda, who is the bestower of prema, love of God.
