HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our beloved spiritual master

-a poem on the devotee’s light

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Without Thou, what am I?
But, a terrible, wasted, hopeless sinner!
A refuse that is to be dumped in the garbage can.

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Without Thou, what am I?
An insignificant worm!
In the drainage pipe.

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Without Thou, what am I?
A blind man!
Without any hope for direction.

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Without Thou, what am I?
A broken ship!
Without sails and rudder.

Thou guide me about God.
Thou tell me about the Lord.
Thou instruct me the Vedas.
Thou elevate me to godly service.

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
If Thou were n’t present,
Before my eyes as words,
Of divine nectarean spiritual wisdom.

How would I have emerged,
From the deep, dark well of ignorance!
How would I have survived,
The terrible, devastating material storm!

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
If it were not for Thou,
How would I have faced,
The terrible, vile-eyed world!

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Without Thou, I would have,
Been lost and maddened,
By the illusory, nescient nature.

Thou opened my half-closed eyes,
To the true reality,
To the sacred face of God,
By the ambrosian path of devotional service.

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Thou wrought for me,
A path that was serene and sober,
Free from the dualities of worldly existence.

Thou lighted the lamp of devotional grace!
And enlivened the path to the Kingdom of God!
The sacred tributary of the Ganges!
That washes the lotus feet of the Lord!

O Gurudeva! O Gurudeva!
Thou art my Brahma, Visnu, Mahesh!
My eternal spiritual master!
Father of the prodigal son!

Thou art the shining moonlight,
Of the dim, dreary, dead darkness!
The burning, sheltering flame,
In the cold, fleecing, incorrigible winter!

O dear Srila Prabhupada!
Thou art my guide and teacher!
In Thou, I seek solemn refuge and mercy,
To touch the lotus feet of the Lord.

Jaya Gurudeva! Jaya Gurudeva!
Jaya Srila Prabhupada! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
Jaya Gurudeva! Jaya Gurudeva!
Jaya Srila Prabhupada! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!

Beholding Sri Gaurasundara

Behold the golden-complexioned Lord!
The rising sun from the depths of the ocean of Kali yuga,
The sweet-mellowed, magnanimous one,
The divine son of Srimati Saci-devi,
Who is the embodiment of the pure love of Radha-Krishna,
Who sings the Mahamantra like a madman,
And makes the world shake with joy,
He is the Supreme Lord, Krishna Himself,
In the colour and mood of Srimati Radharani,
as the most exalted devotee of their Lordships!
He is the deliverer of the fallen souls in this age,
The saving hope and light of Kali yuga,
The performer of wonderful pastimes in Navadvipa!
O Lord Gaurasundara!
I offer my repeated obeisances and prostrations unto You!
