By Mithuna das
In honor of the glories of Sri Prahlad Narasimha, the Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mandir is collaborating with twenty (20) Hindu temples to celebrate Holi Sammelan on Saturday, March 3, 2007, 1:00 p.m.-8:00p.m., at the Maha Latchmi Mandir (121-15 101 Avenue, South Richmond Hill, NY 11419).
Some of the items scheduled for the program include Indian classical dancing, an illusionist show, mehndi painting, a devotional play directed by HG Bhima das (Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, Brooklyn), and the burning of an effigy of the demoness Holika. Vaisnava books will be distributed, along with free prasadam for all, and sundry.
This area of Queens is very ISKCON friendly, and we are expecting a very large attendance; there will be ample opportunity for devotee preachers. All kirtaniyas, and devotees who are musically inclined, are invited to walk with their instruments( and rested voices) to accompany the all day Maha Harinam, which would be led by H.G. Keshava Acarya das br. of 26 2nd Avenue, Manhattan, NY, and H.G. Upananda das, among others. SKC Temple President, H.G. Sunanda das is urging everyone to make a special effort to attend this Holi festival which is most auspicious because it also coincides with Gaura Purnima 2007.
