As Inspired by the wonderful pastimes of His Holiness Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami.

The present day world is well moving ahead with technological breakthrough. Based on the developments in the material world, we have to adapt and regulate our life for serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is the summum bonum of preaching communicated by bonafide Acharyas. With the growing influencing of technology on young minds, scientific preaching front appears mandatory. The following sections highlight what we shall target.

Conceptual framework

To tune one to take up scientific aspects of Krsna Consciousness, one has to present matters scientifically. If we proceed towards a graduate engineer in Computer Science who does ground breaking research and believes in modern science, we have to explain him through the facets of modern science.

The first and foremost thing we have to advocate is to project the philosophy behind modern science. Modern science involves experimentation, observation and inference. However, the critical aspect of modern science is that we design our experiment based on our intellect. Therefore, limitations of intellect limit our inferences. With growing research towards modern sciences in the fields of nanotechnology and biotechnology it may appear that modern science is well bent to crack the secrets of nature. But the following have to be observed:

a)For each experiment, try to project the philosophy of the experiment and its outcome
b)For each experiment, see what alternative approaches have been formulated
c)For each experiment, see how it can be connected to other experiments to visualize spirituality and its presence.

In this way, the true nature of modern science can be properly understood.

Illustrative examples

Numerous examples are provided by His Holiness Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Maharaja who has advocated that examples are the best way to convey scientifically the Bhagavata Dharma. Bhagavad Gita also needs to be explained scientifically at some point. This has been presented by Maharaja todate in his classic book: Life, Matter and their Interactions. Therefore, we request those interested to perform scientific preaching to kindly contact us at Bhaktivedanta Institute, Kolkata.

Humility: Accept scientific wisdom

The best way of winning other’s heart is to accept that they are knowledgeable, intelligent and conveying logically the scientific wisdom. However, the supremacy of the scriptures and failure of modern scientists to create a life particle to date from inanimate entities is the most important point that has to be stressed from our end. This has to be once again explained in scientific terms only.

Philosophical synthesis of Science & Spirituality

Both science and spirituality are well bent towards discovering the ultimate reality. While science uses senses for acquiring knowledge, spirituality depends on higher intervention and prayers. Therefore, the means of acquiring absolute knowledge is common for both disciplines. Since science and spirituality are prominent fields of present day’s interest, both fields should be taken positively and applied for better understanding the horizons of science and religion and they way we need to deal with these two complicated subject matter.
