Since more than 20 years Sri Harinaam Sankirtan has been blessing Town and Villages on Tuesday nights all around Mauritius.
Last tuesday we had Harinaam Sankirtan at Candos. While kirtan was at its full swing and Mrdanga, kartal and djambe was accompanying Sri Naam Prabhu we marched in the cold winter night by the side of the Victoria Hospital enjoying the kirtan. Reaching nearly by the end of the road we were surprised to see a patient admitted at the hospital off his bed standing near the window in the building on the 3rd floor dancing while waving exuberantly. Seeing him dancing Kirtan got more ecstatic and devotees were waving back to him. He seemed overjoyed and happy to hear kirtan and have darshan of Sri Gaura Nitai
It was a unique scene which we never came across before. While so many just would ignore the harinaam sankirtan, there he was, surely physically unfit to be there up on the second floor of the hospital thus up admitted for treatments we saw a fortunate soul dancing for the pleasure of the Lord!!!
Instantly i was reminded that kaler dosa-nidhe rajan: The faults of this age are just like an ocean. If you were put into the Pacific Ocean, you would not know how to save your life. Even if you were a very expert swimmer, it would not be possible for you to cross the Pacific Ocean. Similarly, the Kali-yuga is described in the Bhagavatam as an ocean of faults. It is infected with so many anomalies that there seems to be no way out. But there is one medicine: kirtanad eva krsnasya mukta-sangah param vrajet. The Bhagavatam explains that if you chant the name of Krsna–the Hare Krsna mantra–you will be relieved from the infection of this Kali-yuga.
