The Governor of Arizona issues Proclamation for Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2008
For the third year in a row, Bhaktin Janet (Napolitano)- as His Holiness Ganapati Swami Maharaja says- the Governor of Arizona, U S A – issued another Proclamation for Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Saturday August 23, 2008.
In fact, she is the first ever government official anywhere in the world to issue a Proclamation for Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
The BhaktiVedanta Cultural Center and Temple in Phoenix, known as Hare Krishna Mandir is the oldest Center, established in 1996. It is the first Hindu Temple in Arizona and has inspired other Temples which have been established later on to fulfill spiritual needs of Hindus and others in Arizona. Earlier this year, she was greeted by Hare Krishna devotees during InterFaith breakfast, attended by Arizona’s top 250 clergies, priests, civic leaders at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix:-

* SRI KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI DAY *
WHEREAS, the ISKCON of Phoenix is a non-profit organization that has spent the past twelve years promoting peace, love, spirituality and harmony among Arizonians by engaging in six daily services 365 days a year and celebrating cultural and civic festivals; and
WHEREAS, the ISKCON of Phoenix has supported the Governor’s Interfaith initiatives during the past six years and has worked to promote harmony, diversity and mutual respect among Arizonans of different backgrounds and faiths; and
WHEREAS, Sri Krishna Janmashtami is largest and most important festival among Hindus all over the world, and has been celebrated for the past 5,000 years;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Janet Napolitano, Governor of the State of Arizona, do hereby recognize August 23, 2008 as
* SRI KRISHNA JANMASTAMI DAY *
and wish peace and joyful observance of this day by Hindus throughout Arizona and across the world.
