Ramai Prabhu, disciple of Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada passed away this morning. He recently was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer just a few days ago and initial test results had not even come back yet. He was the pujari in Iskcon Chicago for several years.
His devotional service was always steady and unwavering which indicates that he was a very advanced devotee. He was also very jolly and upbeat. He will be very much missed by the devotees who knew him and those who had his association and served with him over the years.
Pusta Krishna Das: I had been visiting him daily to read, and we were sequentially reading the Sri Brahma Samhita along with purports of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur. Yesterday at noon we read up to including the verse: veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣam- barhāvataṁsam asitāmbuda-sundarāṅgam kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaṁ govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi He was always alert and receptive. The last topic we discussed was how we both felt so “undeserving of the great mercy we have received in this lifetime.” Sometime after that in evening or early morning, Sri Krishna took Ramai to His divine heart.
