Sangita devi dasi, RN, Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse, and Certified Hospice Educator, will present a V-CARE seminar at the ISKCON Houston, Texas temple.

Please join us for this hands-on, interactive seminar given in a relaxed and
supportive environment.

Seminar Objectives Include:
1. Discuss the meaning of hospice care and palliative care and their differences and
similarities.
2. Understand the “roots” of hospice care of the dying.
3. Explain the meaning of “holistic care” for the terminally ill patient.
4. List the six major concepts of hospice care.
5. Explain the purpose and importance of a Living Will/Advance Directive.
6. Understand the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
7. Gain a deeper insight into his/her own perspective of death and dying.
8. Understand typical anxieties expressed by terminally ill patients.
9. Gain a better understanding of “spiritual pain” and how we can help as caregivers
to the dying.
10. Explain “Anticipatory Grief.”
11. Be able to recognize the Five Stages of Dying.
12. Learn techniques in order to better communication with the dying patient and
family.
13. Understand ways to be a “healing presence.”
14. Recognize the signs and symptoms of “Caregiver Burnout” and how to prevent it.

Everyone is welcome. No previous experience is required.

Seminar is free, however donations are welcome.

Workbooks and other supplies are provided.
