Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada!

40 years ago this June, Srila Prabhupada personally installed the beautiful deities of Sri Sri Rukmini Dwarakanatha with his own hands. He would often teach his disciples the process of Deity worship, by lovingly worshiping these small Radha Krishna deities himself.

They were installed on La Cienaga Ave in Los Angeles, California in 1969. The “La Cienaga” temple was the first temple in Southern California and Rukmini Dwarakanatha were the first Radha Krishna deities installed as the Krishna Consciousness movement expanded from New York to the rest of the world.

One year later, on Janmastami, Rukmini Dwarkadisha were installed at the new temple on Watseka Ave in Los Angeles and the New Dwaraka community was born. From that time Rukmini Dwarkanatha have been New Dwarakas’ beloved utsava Deities.

The devotees in Los Angeles are humbly requesting anyone who was present at this installation ceremony, or who participated in the la Cienaga temple in any way, to please contact us. We would like to arrange for you to come to a magnificent four day festival that we are having in honor of these Deities. If you cannot come, please be kind to us and provide us any information that you think may help us celebrate this historical event.
