First Vaisnavi Retreat in Chile
From November 31 to December 2, the first Vaisnavi retreat was held in Chile in the city of Pucon.
Pucon is a tourist city surrounded by nature settled in the south of Chile. The retreat was held in cottages far from the city, on top of a mountain, so the landscape and serenity were outstanding.
In that area a small community of devotees has been formed which is growing gradually, fulfilling the words of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu that the maha mantra will be sung in every town and village.
In this first retreat, 18 devotees participated, some initiating their spiritual life in Krishna consciousness and others with several years of experience. The variety in ages and backgrounds allowed the human group to enrich itself and share its diverse experiences.
The retreat featured morning program, Srimad Bhagavatam class, interactive Bhagavad Gita classes, hatha yoga and abundant prasadam. The last night the devotees made a bonfire and sang the maha mantra to the sound of the guitar.
Prashanta Devi Dasi, organizer of the Vaisnavi Retreats in Vrindavan, gave a Srimad Bhagavatam class via Skype from Govardhan Hill and talked about the importance of association and of hearing about Krishna from a bona fide source.
“We hope that this retreat will be the first of many, and that more and more devotees may come to revitalize their spiritual life in this part of the world, which has a privileged nature”, said Radha Kinkari Devi Dasi, one of the organizers.
