Saturday, 28 March 2009 / Published in Announcements / 4,383 views

Dear Prabhus:

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

On March 28th, 2009, we are organizing a global assembly of devotees. We invite every town and village to hear and chant through Krishna.com.

Kirtan leaders will include Madhava Prabhu from Switzerland, His Holiness BB Govinda Swami from South Africa, Shri Prahlad Prabhu from New Zealand, Krishna Kshetra Prabhu from Croatia, His Holiness Lokanath Swami from Bangladesh, Kripamoya Prabhu from London, Gaura Vani Prabhu from Maryland, Madi Prabhu and Naikatma Prabhu from Los Angeles, Amala Kirtan from Dallas, and others. (See schedule for local times in your area and updates. More kirtan leaders are being added.)

The idea is to gather as if we were all in one temple room with many altars. The kirtan leader may be in front of another altar, but the kirtan will be the same all over the world in front of all the altars. The sankirtan will be the same kirtan. We will be connected through sound, ISKCONnected, and certainly our prayers will be greater when chanted together.

Please join us on this day. If you are a temple leader, please contact us at kirtan@krishna.com so that we can help you plan the event at your temple (see example announcement below.)

Sample of an announcement you could use to invite members of your community to participate*:

“Every Town and Village Kirtan Festival – March 28

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu desired His holy names be spread throughout the world “to every town and village.” By Mahaprabhu’s grace, Srila Prabhupada took this mission seriously and ISKCON manifested to fulfill Mahaprabhu’s desire. Here is an opportunity for each of us to participate.

On March 28th, [our local temple] will join together with other ISKCON temples around the world for a live global kirtan. Using the Internet, we will be able to hear what’s going on in other temples.
** Our program will start at 7:00 am local time with our normal Guru Puja, and then after that [our local kirtan leader] will lead the global kirtan from 7:30 to 8:30. After that the famous Russian chanter Aditi Dukhaha will lead kirtan for one hour, followed by His Holiness BB Govinda Swami, Madhava Prabhu from Switzerland, Shri Prahlad Prabhu from New Zealand, Krishna Kshetra Prabhu from Croatia, His Holiness Lokanath Swami from India, Kripamoya Prabhu from London, Gaura Vani Prabhu from Maryland, Madi Prabhu and Naikatma Prabhu from Los Angeles, Amala Kirtan from Dallas… **

**A complete schedule is available at: http://www.krishna.com/kirtan

We will be performing sankirtan yajna all day and into the evening, and we humbly request your presence. Please join us and devotees around the world for this great kirtan festival.
