New York’s Bhakti Center
Gopi Gita: Nothing compared to my visit to the Bhakti Center! Every nook and cranny felt powered by intention; every step a visit takes carefully thought out in order to guide guests to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. From the smiling receptionist to the signs, the colors, the pamphlets, wall decor, shoe racks placement, everything perfectly placed. I felt like I had been gently carried by another force to the ornately decorated temple room doors. Radha Muralidhara, breathtakingly beautiful and Sri Gaurachandra, resided inside, surrounded by walls decorated in sacred cowdung. The visionary for this temple is HH Radhanath Swami. And the excellent work being led by our very own Virabhadra as temple president. Bud Tansey (Virabhadra Ram)
Another door opened and it was Dayal Gauranga, an old friend from Laguna, teaching a harmonium class! Part of the admin team, he shared the active planning required for marketing and educating the primarily Western congregation.
Yet another door opened and I was whisked in to dear friends Gaura Vani and Jahnavi’s Kirtan workshop. World renowned Kirtaniyas actively sharing their wisdom in a how-to workshop. Such gentle and nourishing bliss felt in their company.
Last stop in Manhattan was Divya’s Kitchen: an elite restaurant only available through reservations. The lavish meal, prepared using Ayurveda principles; was delicious! Especially the panir mounds and creamy soup. Run by devotees and so successful!
This day taught me how sankirtan precisely means branding and marketing for Krishna and how important it is to organize ourselves accordingly.
