Ramanuja Dasa: Jalandhar City, Punjab, India

Please accept our most humble offerings. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada, and all Glories to Sri Guru & Gauranga.

If anyone is in touch with India, or Indian media, then they will know the we are going through a heavey drought, with monsoons late as much as a month. Power cuts are getting longer and longer(almost 15 hours a day in North India). This means no business, no fruits and vegetables, and very hard to go on with deity sewa.

SO. . . .

This past Friday night we planned up an idea to have a 12 hour Hare Krishna Kirtan marathon in the temple, so we might be able to please Lord Sri Krishna, and maybe he can give us rain.

We went from 7 a. m. - 7 p. m. starting from Guru Puja. Great kirtan with about 200-300 people regular(approx 2000 people came and went). We received great media coverage; Danik Jagran, Punjab Kesri, Danik Bhaskar, Amar Ujala, as well as TV media. Prabhupada Gurupuja was aired on Aajtak, ZeeNews, New24, IBN7, PTC News, and some others. TV media said that unlike other methods(some people had staged riots at Eletricity offices) this was the correct method. . .To please God through Kirtan

The better part is yet to come.

Today, Monday eveing it begain to rain. It was amazing. We were contacted by TV media and they will be playing the clips of Gurupuja and Kirtan again and will be also be showing some interviews they took of the devotees about how Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had prescribed this method of Chanting in the Kaliyuga, and that this was a good way to please the lord. They will be telling people how are method of chanting the holy name has removed this Drought.

THIS IS THE POWER OF HARINAAM!

In 1972, Srila Prabhupada and a group of devotees put on a series of pandal programs in Hyderabad. There happened to be a drought at that time. During the day, the devotees would have HariNam throughout the city. After about a week, it began to rain, and Srila Prabhupada commented that it was because of the Hari Nam yajna that had been performed. Now we find the same thing has happened. It isn’t that we do “rain dances” or anything of the sort. The pure chanting of the Holy Name, without any material desire, to please the Lord is plenty enough to bring all good fortune to any place without any extraneous endeavor. If Sri Krishna is pleased, there is never any scarcity.
Your servant,
Pavamana dasa
