Devotees from ISKCON of Phoenix were invited to a Mayor and Council meeting of Town of Gilbert in Arizona. The occasion was the town being proclaimed a Golden Rule city by the Mayor John W Lewis, who was a Chief Guest at Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations earlier this year at Hare Krishna temple.

Priest Braj Govind das sang NrSimh Prayers and played mradang, accompanied by RadhaMadhavaHari das who played cymbals. Mayor and council members, audience and other staff members of the town loved it and assured us to be invited to future meetings.

Eldred Spain, President, Arizona Interfaith Movement (AIFM) accompanied by his wife received the Proclamation from the Mayor declaring Town of Gilbert as a Golden Rule city. When ISKCON of Phoenix was a victim of graffiti twice during a fortnight in 2002, Eldred Spain and other members of AIFM lead by Rev Dr Paul Eppinger, Executive Director, visited Sri Sri Radha MadhavaHari Dham to express support and donated Lakshmi to meet expenses related to removal of graffiti.

It is worth mentioning that Town had organized an event named “Gilbert Faith Group Summit” on Nov 5 attended by me. Mayor, Council Member Jenn Daniels, Town Manager George Petit and several other speakers were offered blessed garlands from Sri Sri Radha MadhavaHari Dham, which they wore gladly though out the meeting. All chanted Maha Mantra,” Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare! Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” with both hands rose, when requested by me during the Prayer offereing before taking meals.
Krishna Consciousness at funeral: Ken Jeffers, a preacher of Baha’i faith carried his journey to upper world. A blessed garland from Sri Sri RadhaMadhavaHari Dham was offered to him and placed at the coffin before his final journey. His wife Donna greeted me with Hare Krishna, as she and her husband had visited ‘Dham twice before and were offered blessed garlands and prasadam. Story of Ajamil was narrated by me to three grandchildren of Ken who listened it attentively and all three uttered the name “Narayan”
