After a long life of Krsna Consciousness and extensive preaching, His Holiness Mahavishnu swami is prepared to leave his body in the very near future. Yesterday he left Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mumbai for the holy tirtha of Nasika. Nasika is a place of Rama Lila. HH Mahavishnu swmai has spent much time there durig the last few years.

I was always empressed by his relaxed and jolly preaching that was at the same time very serious and forceful. He always pushed his followers to take shelter of sadhana, esp. mangal artika. His melodious chanting of Bhagavad Gita charmed anyone who heard it. When I mentioned his name to HH BVV Narasimha Swami recently he said. “he can read SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM” for hours. And from teh one volume edition without glasses. His taste for SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM is awesome. Even in his recent very much weakened condition, whenever he is awake he is full of Bhagavat katha, hearing and chanting.

As he was leaving Mumbai I asked him to bless all of us with a taste for SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM. He was smiling effulgently while many devotees were chanting kirtan.

We were fortunate to have such a soul amongst us and I pray that I can follow in his footsteps.

For the last years he has been inspiring some wonderful projects. One beautiful temple has opened in Dwaraka. A very grand project is coming up in Rajkot, Gujarat. Now a big temple is underconstructed. Puja and preaching have been going on there for many years and attendance is very big. He charmed the goverment into giving 8 acres of niceland just outside of the city limits.
