Rock n Roll Rescue, Camden Town London, Response to Pandemic
Parasuram das: On the 23rd April 2020, Chrissie Hynde, from the rock band The Pretenders, officially opened the Rock n Roll Rescue Hub in North London.
The hub opens six days a week, distributing delicious Prasad, and is run by Jenny from The Bellestars, with her team of transcendental rockers.
Since the last 12 years our Prasad distribution projects are 90% funded from the Rock n Roll community. Artists are generally quite spiritually focused and generous individuals.
And we greatly appreciate their support.
Even the devil’s music can be engaged in Krishna Consciousness, and if the Devil shows up himself, we will engage him in stirring the big pots, he’s likely to have lots of experience at that.
Photos show: The bhoga ships in and Krishna Prasad flows out. Thanks to a tight team of devotee cooks and dedicated volunteers.
Mr. Faill: “Is it necessary to follow certain eating habits to practice spiritual life?”
Srila Prabhupada: Yes, the whole process is meant to purify us, and eating is part of that purification. I think you have a saying, “You are what you eat,” and that’s a fact. Our bodily constitution and mental atmosphere are determined according to how and what we eat. Therefore the sastras [scriptures]recommend that to become Krishna conscious, you should eat remnants of food left by Krishna [Krishna-prasadam]. If a tuberculosis patient eats something and you eat the remnants, you will be infected with tuberculosis. Similarly, if you eat Krishna-prasadam, then you will be infected with Krishna consciousness. Thus our process is that we don’t eat anything immediately. First we offer the food to Krishna, then we eat it. This helps us advance in Krishna consciousness.
