Ratha yatra The Hague, The Netherlands!

Op zaterdag 3 juli 2010 wordt in Den Haag voor de 16e keer het Spirituele India Parade festival oftewel Ratha Yatra – karrenfestival georganiseerd. Om 12.00 uur wordt dit spectaculaire festival ingeluid met zang en dans. Een reusachtig kleurrijke kar, voortgetrokken door toegewijden, vertrekt vanaf het Schalkburgerplein (Wijkpark Transvaal) om 13.00 uur voor een parade door de straten van Den Haag. De parade komt rond 15.00 uur aan op het Schalkburgerplein. Hier zal het festival voortgezet worden tot 18.00 uur. Er is onder andere een divers cultureel podiumprogramma met moderne en klassieke dans optredens, toneel en traditionele muziek en zang. Verder is er een Indiase minimarkt met snacks, kleding, sieraden, henna, ayurveda, kunst en muziek. Tevens kan iedereen gratis de overheerlijke vegetarische maaltijd nuttigen.

Het Ratha Yatra – karren festival vindt zijn oorsprong in Orissa, India. Dit is het grootste spirituele festival ter wereld met miljoenen bezoekers. Het festival wordt nu in meer dan 80 grote steden over de hele wereld gevierd.
