New Book: Vrindavana, the Playground of God
Isvara Dasa: Its with great happiness that we announce the release of our newest publication, Vrindavan, the Playground of God.
After a long wait, we have finally released the deluxe coffee table book, “Vrindavana, the Playground of God.” This coffee-table book is a visual-rich guide to the holiest place of pilgrimage for the worshippers of Lord Krishna, Sri Vrindavana Dhama.
When Lord Krishna comes to this world, He performs wonderful pastimes to attract living entities to come back to Him in the spiritual world. He appears in many forms, all of them fully transcendental to this material world, and in those forms He exhibits wonderful qualities which are displayed in the course of His activities and interactions with His devotees.
The main place of these pastimes is Sri Vrindavana Dhama, an area of about 168 square miles or 438 square kilometers in north-central India. There Krishna appeared about five thousand years ago and performed pastimes in many places throughout the length and breadth of the entire region.
In this book, Vrindavana, the Playground of God, you will be transported to the main temples and pastime places in the town of Vrindavana, beginning with the seven main temples established by the Gosvamis followers of Caitanya Mahaprabhu when they migrated to Vrindavana about five hundred years ago.
Sri Vrindavana Dhama is a most sacred place. Every year millions of pilgrims visit, to absorb themselves in the amazing spiritual atmosphere, and relish the devotional mood that pervades everything there. The experience is unforgettable, and makes a profound impact on the hearts of all who visit.
As one saint has written: “The supremely blissful land of Vrindavana possesses unlimited, transcendental glory, which cannot be understood by even the most intelligent materialistic person. It quickly awakens pure devotional love for the Supreme Lord, and shines with such divine splendor that it astonishes even the residents of heaven. It is full of nectar, and is the most exalted of all transcendental abodes. I pray that, with a flood of its spiritual sweetness, it may overwhelm and delight my heart.”
The author of this book, Bhakti Caitanya Swami, is a disciple of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-spiritual master of the International Society for Krishna a Consciousness. He first visited India in 1976, and since then has visited on perhaps 100 occasions, spending much of his time in Vrindavana. For the past fifteen years he has particularly focused on photographing and videotaping the sacred places of Vrindavana, and has compiled one of the most extensive collections of images of this most holy place in existence.
Bhakti Caitanya Swami travels constantly all over the world lecturing on Vedic subjects, and he is widely known for his Vrindavana Parikrama DVD series; a collection of videos produced by himself of the famous holy places of India, especially Vrindavana and Navadvipa Areas.
The Publisher, Touchstone Media, has been publishing and distributing books dealing with the Vedic subjects for more than fifteen years. The publisher’s main focus is researching, publishing and distributing the rich spiritual tradition of Vaisnavism as handed down by the disciplic masters. Touchstone Media publishes its own exclusive works as well as works submitted by others. Thus, the partnership between Bhakti Caitanya Swami and Touchstone Media to publish “Vrindavana, the Playground of God” is meant to welcome an addition of rich spiritual heritages that will enhance humanity’s quest in rediscovering their lost eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord.
