Dear Devotees, Please accept my most fallen obeisnace’s. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! There is much intreset now in Soldier precahers. And also talk about let’s get KC chaplins etc. While yes it is possible, the fact that life in the Army is hard…. it is lonely. i have been deployed ten times to combat zones, from Saudi Arabia to Haiti to Kosovo, to Iraq, all with out any devotee association. I have had to assit Srila Prabhupada in making devotees. While the idea of what I am doing and what Mitra Vinda Mataji is doing sounds exciting, the harsh reality is that the military is no place for a devotee. And this is coming from 10 years of doing it. The idea of preaching that focuses on Soldiers in wonderful. Honestly I ahve to say we can focus on this area without having devotee join the military. We can focus on the gurukuli’s that are in already, use contacts to make programs on base. But is it worth the decline in health, the mental problems that come with war? I am only 30 years in this body, I am deaf in one ear, i have hearing loss in the other, I cannot sleep more than 3 hours a night, and the things I have done and seen wil haunt me for the rest of my life. I have to face the fact that if I keep it up, I may lose the gift of hearing the Holy Name.
I am not writing this letter as detering anyone from this service. I just wnat to let everyone know what they are getting into. The precahing is amazing…that I cannot deny, the realizations can help springboard you in spiritual life. The whole material world is dangerous. The Army gives benefits, they help matain family. The illusion is that a chaplin is not on the fornt line, but that is not so. In this war Chaplins are out with teh soldiers, they are getting shot at also, they are being blown up by IEDs etc.
Forgive me for writing this letter. I just wnat to out this out to the public… I suggest the GBC decide what to do about military precahing. I will volunteer to help and manage this. But let’s look at all the facts before promoting the joining of the military.
forgive me for my offences,

JAYA Srila Prabhupada, This is a wonderful report… this movement is spreading from here in Iraq, to SC. When I hear about ISKCON precahing spirit declining, I think of devotees like Mitra Vinda Mataji. Great Job…. these soldiers are so accepting of this KC philosiphy.
all glories to your service
yours in service of Sri Guru & Gauranga

Dear Devotees, Please accept my most fallen and unworthy obeisances, All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Hare Krsna, I am writing this letter to explain myself and my motives behind what I am doing in Iraq. I am not here to be a hero, make waves in ISKCON and certainly not to make Srila Prabhupada and place a negative preception of ISKCON. I joined the Army prior to becoming a devotee. While some talk harshly about my being there, and some praise me, the fact is that I am stuck here. I signed my name and gave my word to lead soldiers. After reading Srila Prabhupada’s books, I have understood that Srila Prabhupada wanted us to take advantage of any chance we have to preach this wonderful message. This brings me to Iraq (the fourth time), where after years of preaching in the Army, am finally getting facility and means to cultivate and introduce jivas to Srila Prabhupada’s books. To be able to have a Ratha Yatra on a US Army base, to be given a building to be used for eucationg and advancing this culture. Will all do respect to all the devotees. None of you are here, none of you have to have someone covered in blood and die i your arms and see that his only hope is to hear the Holy Name. I belive if not mistaken Srila Prabhupada wanted us to develop a quality called compassion. It is lonely here and while most live a community of devotees, I live not in a comfrtable temple, but in a warzone. There is no life here, only death. Death of the the material body and even more importantly death of the intreset in spirtual life. But when they hear about Krsna….. their lives light up.
All of you are more advanced and senior than me, after all I am just a dumb soldier but I ask each of you, do these soldiers not deserve the right and oppurtunity to learn about Krsna? Do they not deserve a chance to end the cycle of birth and death? I am not a savior but Srila Prabhupada is and if I have to go through all of this to bring one to Srila Prabhupada, then it is worth. That is my desire, no it is my DUTY to Srila Prabhupada and to my Spiritual Master. It is the duty of all that claim to be a vaisnava. Where would we be if Srila Prabhupada never left India? We would be rotting in the material suffering.
Contrary to some, not all of us soldier are the cause of the greatest horrors. A shame, such a broad and intelligent movement and such narrow minded thinking. After all, with this logic should we label ever Hare Krsna as a demon after the events of the late 1970’s and 1980’s? These men and women are thirsty for the nectar of Bhagavad-Gita. Who here has the right to take the cup of nectar away, that would relieve their thirst?
With all this said, I ask all the devotees to look past politics, to look past their personal opinions and for a chance be supportive of one another. After all, as Srila Prabhupada said “the dogs may bark, but the caravan will pass.”
Please forgive me for any offenses I have made. It is not my desire to upset anyone. I fall at each of your feet repatedly and beg for your forgivness.
your’s in the service of Srila Prabhupada,

Hare Krsna, Pamo agtSP! Thank you for your concerns about what I am doing. I would like to address this concern of yours. I have been operating in this area since 2003, I am well aware of the views there, and as such I would not do anything to make life difficult for anyone. With that said, every Sun their church on the base, their are X-mas parties, Easter parties, any holiday that is spiritual is celebrated by the Americans only on the base. Now why can we all these days and not a Ratha Yatra? My dealing with the local populace has been good, they were very respectful of my faith. Some saw this as a very clear and persice process. I don’t preach to locals becuase fo sensitivity issues in the region. I am not that stupid. I understand what winning hearts and minds mean. This is not a geand parade, it is a simple percession followed by a fest. I have spoken with many senior leaders in our movement and asked, they felt this a good thing for the soldiers. Again thank you for the concerns. Agian I expected some to disagree with what I am doing. But I feel this is a positive situation. Forgive me for my offenses and please bless me to please Prabhupada with my service. your servant, Partha-sarathi dasa

Hare Krsna, Pamo agtSP!!!
I am checking on the media coverage, but a very least video will be taken and uploaded onto the web. Please keep in mind this will be a very simple Ratha Yatra. Sorry no GBC or Maharaja’s behind this. This was an idea eating at my heart.
