Freewill of a Molecule

Hare Krsna Sitalatma mataji,

>>Lovely article but after agreeing with everything said there I still have questions.
** Yes it is a very good article. Very lucidly it addresses very grave subjects of freewill & varnasrama dharma.

>> What about people of demoniac and degraded “svabhava” who can’t be placed in varnashrama? Should they act according to their own nature or according to promises made before their spiritual masters? That calls for some serious repression.
** The ideal will always be just one, as established by our scriptures. That is why it is also called sanatana dharma (one that is eternal). Those who cannot fall into the Vedic culture are “demoniac” or miscreants. It is these people who create the need for the establishment of “dharma” by the Lord in different ages.
If one has that kind of “svabhava” as pointed out by you, one has more cleansing to do. Chanting is the best cleansing agent. If they sincerely chant, I am sure they will be able to come out of it. In our farm, a few dogs were brought to guard but after taking regular prasadam, there was a remarkable change in the svabhava of the dogs. They stopped fighting or even barking at the transgressers! Then what to speak of human beings who have higher consciousness?

>>What about gays? In the West they aren’t considered degraded or devious anymore and are expected to follow that local implementation of varnashrama – get married, stay faithful, adopt children and so on.
** Whether the west considers gays and … as degraded or not, Vedic standard is same. Varnasrama dharma creates a conducive structure for gradual spiritual elevation for everybody. Marriage is a samskar meant to help two people get together for spiritual elevation and procreation of devotee children not for mere sense gratification. This is why grahastha (householder) stage is also an ashrama (stage of life meant for spiritual growth). Now if we go to see gay or such people where is Krishna at the center? They are not together for spiritual evolution with a Krsna centric life. It is ONLY sense gratification with NO possibility of procreation. Adoption is all artificial, as much as is their relationship. How can they help the adopted child to develop spiritually when they themselves are not setting the standards and are in a state of confusion. Varnasrama means Krsna centric life – land, cow and Krsna; but they have sense gratification, self and adoption at the center.

Hare Krsna Kulapavana prabhu,
I agree with you: “People will surrender to a varnashrama system when they see that it is actually working for the people engaged in it. It is a very practical and tangible thing. I’m not so sure that as a movement we have managed to create such a structure. At least I have not seen it.”
Presently we may not have a ready model to showcase or follow. But as the heat of modern lifestyle is gradually scorching us, the people within ISKCON and even outside are getting to realize the relevance of varnasrama dharma. Therefore, there may not be a ready model but yes we do have several endeavors with different levels of successes in different parts of the world. I am sure with the blessings of Srila Prabhupada it will materialize.

Regarding Prabhavisnu Prabhu’s Resignation

Thank you Mrtyuhara Prabhu and Pustakrishna Prabhu for adding more valuable comments to it.
As an active soldier in Srila Prabhupada’s army for more than four decades Prabhavishnu Prabhu has been practicing and preaching Krishna consciousness tirelessly, but hardly anyone talked so much about him. And today, with just one incident so many things are being talked against him.
Yes, You are very much right Mrutyuhara Prabhu. There are people who pray to the Lord for the fall down of all the Sannyasis. SO this incident has definitely added some satisfaction to their contaminated senses.
But anyways, as Vaishnavas we should be compassionate to such people also and pray for their spiritual progress. May be someday Krishna will listen our prayers and will give them some intelligence to come out of such mess which they have created.

Thank you for sharing such an information especially when it comes from the GBC EC. So many things are being talked and so many rumors are being spread all over against Prabhavishnu prabhu.
I just remembered one story from a moral story book….. Once there were two Sadhus going to a village and on the way they had to cross a river. They saw a lonely pregnant lady needed help to cross the river. It was about to be sunset. Finding no one, she requested those Sadhus to help her crossing the river. One of them was ready to help her but the other Sadhu insisted not to listen to her request at all saying that “we are Sadhus and we can not touch any lady”. But still his Sadhu friend went to help that lady crossing the river and left her on the other side of the river. But seeing his friend Sadhu not listening to him and went to help that lady, he became very angry and stopped talking to him. As both of them had to go to the same place, so they had to walk together on the same road. After walking together for sometime the Sadhu who has helped the lady asked the other one,” What happened to you? why are you not talking to me at all? Has anything gone wrong?” And the other Sadhu replied ” I don’t want to associate with you as being a Sadhu you have touched that lady.” After hearing the answer from his angry friend, he said “I just helped her crossing the river and left her there only but you are carrying her in your mind from the beginning till here.”
Now I want to say to those people who are carrying such negative thoughts day & night and spreading it everywhere. We all have read his recent letters which were published in this website. He has mentioned everything clearly whatever he has undergone. He has shown transparency in all his dealings. Why to blame him so much? Anyone can be trapped in the clutches of Maya at any moment. What to speak of Prabhvishnu Prabhu or a few ISKCON Sannyasis who have been practicing Krishna consciousness for just 40/45 years, if we just go to the history we will find many Rishis & Munis who had been meditating thousands of years and leading severe austere life also have fallen prey to Mayadevi.
Remember guys.. Mayadevi is not designed for only ISKCON Sannyasis. It can attack anyone at any point of time. And one of the important qualities of Maya is we can not recognize the presence of Maya within us.

Raghava’s Reincarnation Myth

Dear Jeevanmukta prabhu,

Your article begins is founded, begins and ends with blasphemy. The very title of the article “…Myth” shows your challenging attitude, which should not be the case. Naturally the follow up is just a building up on that “challenge”. The real knowledge comes when we know to respect vaishnavas. But I am sorry to say your article along with comments are anything but that.
Further when it comes to remembering the past lives, you have your own concocted interpretation of the Lord’s words. There are many instances when people have remembered their previous birth even in the scriptures. Besides the interesting examples given by HG Abhayamudra mataji, I think you should just read the story of Nalakuvera and Manigriva.
Manigriva and Nalakuvera were cursed by Narada muni that they should become immovable living entities or trees. Although tress are covered by the mode of ignorance, they can not do harm. The great sage Narada thought it fitting that, although the brothers would be punished to become trees, by HIS MERCY THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO KEEP THEIR MEMORY AND BE ABLE TO KNOW WHY THEY WERE BEING PUNISHED.
After changing the body a living entity generally forgets his previous life, but in Special cases, by the GRACE OF THE LORD, as with Nalakuvera and Manigriva, one can remember.
I fail to understand that even after knowing all these still we try to mis-interpret the quotes of Shastra and present them in front of the general people just to fight.
I request you to keep the sanctity of Dandavats.
Aspiring to serve,
Gour Gopal Das, Secunderabad

Dear Jeevanamukta Prabhu &Atmavidya Prabhu!

The whole world is watching us fighting here.
We are forgetting that we are representing Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
Is this what we have acquired after coming to Krishna consciousness? Why do we have so much ego? Why do we have so much enviousness? We are well aware of this fact that because of this ego and enviousness we are separated from our original home and suffering here in this material world. And fortunately by Srila Prabhupada’s mercy we are again trying to reach our home.
But what is this here…? Where shall we go after this if we still continue having the same attitude here?
My humble request to you, kindly do not post such article where Srila Prabhupada is being dragged unnecessarily and It is not right to make personal remarks on devotees.
