Dear well-wishers of Mayapur dham,

Mayapur and about fifty surrounding villages are affected by the flood from the 26th of this September. I hope you may be aware of the situation as we are regularly updating in our website www.mayapur.com. The flood has brought much damage and suffering to ISKCON and about 70,000 dham-vasi villagers. Some of the flood affected villages are

Hular Ghat, Bharuidanga, Nidaya, Char Brahma Nagar, Swarup ganj, Taranpur, Mollapara, Gumaghar, Gournagar and Char Swarupganj. Many of their belongings are washed away and many are left homeless. The villagers anxiety is increasing with the rise of the water level. It is our responsibility to lend helping hands to reduce their anguish at this momentous hour of need.

ISKCON relief work is their only hope. During flood times, seeing the ISKCON boat carrying food packets brings a sigh of relief in their faces. We humbly appeal to all kind hearted people to support this flood relief effort. You can contribute individually and also please print or forward this letter and pass through your friends to raise collective funds. Whatever maybe the amount, please note that your contribution will help ISKCON to expand its relief work to reach more people. Krishna will be pleased by your compassion for the dhamvasis.

We at ISKCON Mayapur began to survey the extent of the damage caused by the flood in the surrounding villages from the 26th. This survey will be collateral to our flood relief efforts.

Last year we covered 44 villages; this year we have planned to extend the relief to 50 villages. We have identified supply of purified water as a necessity and ISKCON has planned to supply 1000 litres of purified water everyday. Devotees and volunteers will depart everyday morning at 10 o’clock with three boats packed with food, medicines and other commodities to the villages and return back in the evening.
