I almost cannot believe what happened in April. The Mayapur temple did 212,221 book points, putting them way out in front of any other temple. The magic of the Mayapur book distributors cannot be underestimated. Lord Caitanya's rain of mercy is pouring down on the fortunate souls receiving Srila Prabhupada's books, and the book distributors are the gardeners planting seeds of devotion in their hearts. Here's a surprise: Ambarish Maharaja, a sannyasi from Russia, is No. 17 in the world, with 1,850 book points. I think that this is the first time I've seen a sannyasi do such a huge score in the category of regular person-to-person book distribution. Before taking sannyasa, he was a full-time book distributor. Along with being a good book distributor, he's one of the nicest devotees I’ve ever met.

A little surprise coming out of India: Angul, a small city north of Jaganatha Puri, was the No. 1 temple worldwide in the Medium Category in February, with 3,065 book points. I had never heard of Angul. Another interesting thing was that all the top-ten temples in the Small Category each did more book points than all of the top-ten temples in the Medium Category. The small temples are more fired up than the medium temples.

It looks like book distribution is almost back to normal, though the Covid-19 crisis still lurks around us. Temples worldwide did huge in January. Usually, January is a slow month, being just after the Prabhupada Marathon, but not January 2021. New Delhi did 139,522 book points. It’s hard to keep a good temple down, and they were in their normal No. 1 position again.

Sydney, totally fired up in November, did 6,467 book points, almost doubling the second-place temple in the Medium Temple category. Chattagram, Bangladesh also did really huge: 38,351 book points, making it the No. 1 temple in the Small Temple category and the No. 2 temple worldwide, just behind New Delhi, with 38,761 book points. New Delhi is in a category of its own. All glories to Gopal Krsna Goswami and the team of enthusiastic book distributors! Moscow Gita-Nagari also got Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's mercy by doing 14,548 book points.

The Swansea temple in Wales had the best month I've ever seen from this quaint little city in Great Britain. It was the No. 1 temple in Great Britain with 4,906 book points and No. 9 worldwide. And in Bangladesh a temple has come up that I've never seen or noticed before in the newsletter. Coxbazar did huge, with 4,301 book points, making it No. 11 in the world. Both are in the Small Temple category, small but doing big.

This has never happened before: Chowpatti is the No. 1 temple in India and the No. 2 temple worldwide (just behind Los Angeles, which is always up there in the charts). The Chowpatti temple did 32,952 book points in September, and the Los Angeles temple did a whooping 40,949 book points. Look out, Europe! New Mayapur (France) is moving up in the competition. It was No. 4 among the European temples, with 1,771 book points. Janananda Goswami has a new team of fired-up book distributors, and he also goes out with as many devotees as possible. What an example!

It looks like Covid-19 was a blessing in disguise for the Vancouver temple in August. I don't remember ever seeing such a high score. It was the No. 9 temple worldwide, with almost 7,000 book points. Another pleasant surprise is the No. 1 book distributor for the month: Vibhu Caitanya Prabhu, an old friend, from Durban. He's been a book distributor for many years, but I've never seen him score so high. It looks like another Covid-19 blessing in disguise. He did 4,380 book points, and the Durban temple was right behind the Vancouver temple, No. 10 in the world, with 6,029 book points.

In the USA, despite the COVID-19, Los Angeles's sankirtana is still huge: 18,541 book points. In Russia, the most improved temple is Essentuki, with 1,259 book points, a 999% increase. In Europe, Sankirtana Dhama TSKP in Italy was No. 1, which is not unusual, because they're always fired up. Most temples in the world have decreased book distribution because of the pandemic, but some increased it. ISKCON of Silicon Valley had one of its best months. By using the phone or internet by selling sets, the ISV devotees did 46,788 book points, making their temple No. 1 in the world, way ahead of everyone else. They had 368 devotees taking part in the Bhaktivinoda Marathon. Srila Prabhupada said, “Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura would be very pleased if a disciple distributed just a few small books.” More than 100,000 books were distributed worldwide in May, though we were locked down (with a few exceptions), so I am sure that Krishna and the acaryas are pleased. Now is a time when people will take Krishna’s timeless wisdom more seriously. Difficulty is a blessing in disguise, to help people wake up from the illusory slumber of material life.
