The Swansea temple in Wales had the best month I've ever seen from this quaint little city in Great Britain. It was the No. 1 temple in Great Britain with 4,906 book points and No. 9 worldwide. And in Bangladesh a temple has come up that I've never seen or noticed before in the newsletter. Coxbazar did huge, with 4,301 book points, making it No. 11 in the world. Both are in the Small Temple category, small but doing big.

This has never happened before: Chowpatti is the No. 1 temple in India and the No. 2 temple worldwide (just behind Los Angeles, which is always up there in the charts). The Chowpatti temple did 32,952 book points in September, and the Los Angeles temple did a whooping 40,949 book points. Look out, Europe! New Mayapur (France) is moving up in the competition. It was No. 4 among the European temples, with 1,771 book points. Janananda Goswami has a new team of fired-up book distributors, and he also goes out with as many devotees as possible. What an example!

It looks like Covid-19 was a blessing in disguise for the Vancouver temple in August. I don't remember ever seeing such a high score. It was the No. 9 temple worldwide, with almost 7,000 book points. Another pleasant surprise is the No. 1 book distributor for the month: Vibhu Caitanya Prabhu, an old friend, from Durban. He's been a book distributor for many years, but I've never seen him score so high. It looks like another Covid-19 blessing in disguise. He did 4,380 book points, and the Durban temple was right behind the Vancouver temple, No. 10 in the world, with 6,029 book points.

In the USA, despite the COVID-19, Los Angeles's sankirtana is still huge: 18,541 book points. In Russia, the most improved temple is Essentuki, with 1,259 book points, a 999% increase. In Europe, Sankirtana Dhama TSKP in Italy was No. 1, which is not unusual, because they're always fired up. Most temples in the world have decreased book distribution because of the pandemic, but some increased it. ISKCON of Silicon Valley had one of its best months. By using the phone or internet by selling sets, the ISV devotees did 46,788 book points, making their temple No. 1 in the world, way ahead of everyone else. They had 368 devotees taking part in the Bhaktivinoda Marathon. Srila Prabhupada said, “Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura would be very pleased if a disciple distributed just a few small books.” More than 100,000 books were distributed worldwide in May, though we were locked down (with a few exceptions), so I am sure that Krishna and the acaryas are pleased. Now is a time when people will take Krishna’s timeless wisdom more seriously. Difficulty is a blessing in disguise, to help people wake up from the illusory slumber of material life.

"When one door closes, another door opens." Vaisesika Prabhu, our ISKCON incarnation of innovation, has opened a door we should have opened before: online book distribution. In March, ISKCON Silicon Valley (ISV) did more than 25,000 book points, a 90% increase, which made ISV the No. 1 temple in the world last month.

Last month, worldwide, we did quite well as usual. But March will be different, for this was the first month of the lockdown. For the sake of health and safety, officials recommended and insisted on social distancing (staying six feet away from others) and staying home as much as possible. Some devotees still distribute books, despite the seriousness of the pandemic. Srila Prabhupada said that devotees are fearless, but not foolish. Two devotees already have left their bodies, and others have tested positive for the virus. So better be safe than sorry.

The Mayapur temple won last year, for the year 2019, but look out Mayapur! It looks like New Delhi is taking 2020 real seriously by getting a big head start. It did 145,921 book points in January. In second place this January was a temple in the small-temple category. That's right, passing all those big temples in the large category, Surat (India) took second place, with 39,708 book points.

Pune was the No. 1 temple in the world, with 663,371 book points. Who would have thought twenty years ago that Pune will be on top? Back then, the temple had just a little center in the city, and now there’s also an enormous temple, an immense congregation, and over a hundred brahmacaris. Generally people reach the ages of 55 to 65 and gradually retire. But two devotees in the Los Angeles temple, Bhrgupati Prabhu and Sacitanoy Prabhu, now 68 and 67, respectively, are a sankirtan team. They go out daily on book distribution, except on weekends, and do huge. Recently, these two non-decrepit book distributors were in the top twenty worldwide. Brghupati is No. 6 for November, with 4,328 book points, and Saci Tanoy is No. 19, with 1,270 book points. This may be the first time in history that an ISKCON temple in a Muslim country is the No. 1 temple in the world. In Bangladesh, Chittagong had an amazing month in October, with 37,402 book points. I have been there a couple of times. Very enthusiastic devotees reside in this nice temple, as we see from their results.
