It is with shock and sincere sympathy that we learned of the death of Pope Francis, who for many years was not only the spiritual leader of the Catholic believers, but also the conscience of the whole humanity — his voice for peace, mercy, and justice.
His life and service were exemplary: he humbly addressed the most vulnerable, invited different religions and cultures for dialogue, and tirelessly proclaimed the importance of human dignity, environmental protection, and social responsibility. His words and deeds left a mark on the lives of millions — believers and non-believers alike.
The message represented by His Holiness — compassion, peace, justice, and respect for common human dignity — goes far beyond denominational boundaries. In accordance with the teachings of our religion, he also viewed humanity as one big common family, where every living being deserves attention and respect as a child of God — the Lord.
The community of Krishna believers looks with deep respect and gratitude towards the efforts of Pope Francis, especially for his work in the field of interfaith dialogue and social justice. Our common values — compassion, service, humility, and peaceful coexistence — build bridges between our traditions. Pope Francis also built bridges: he was a leader who wanted to connect people, not to separate them. He worked tirelessly to make the voice of dialogue, mutual respect, and unity stronger than division.
His death does not only affect the Catholic Church deeply but also all those who were related to him in their faith, spirituality, or humanity.
