Some places feed your stomach. Some places feed your soul.
And then there are places like Govinda’s Restaurant at the ISKCON Temple in London , where you walk in expecting a meal but leave carrying peace, gratitude, and memories that stay with you long after you’ve left.
During my London trip, I decided to spend an afternoon at the ISKCON Temple. It wasn’t part of a packed sightseeing checklist. It was one of those moments where I simply wanted to slow down. After days of exploring busy streets, iconic landmarks, and endless walking, I felt like I needed a pause.
The temple turned out to be exactly that.
The moment I entered, the atmosphere felt different. Calm. Peaceful. Devotional chants filled the air, devotees smiled warmly, and for a while, the noise of the city seemed to disappear.
I was fortunate to attend the aarti , and honestly, it became one of the most memorable experiences of my London visit.

Watching everyone sing together, the sound of the bells, the rhythmic kirtan, and the positive energy inside the temple created an experience that words can barely describe. You don’t have to belong to any particular faith to appreciate the peace you feel there.
After the aarti, I headed straight to Govinda’s Restaurant .
And that’s where another beautiful experience began.
Trying the Govinda’s Thali
I ordered the thali , simply because I wanted to experience everything instead of picking just one dish.

The tray arrived with a variety of freshly prepared vegetarian dishes, rice, chapati, dal, sabzi, dessert, and accompaniments. Everything looked simple, but the aroma immediately told me this wasn’t ordinary restaurant food.
The first bite surprised me.
The food was comforting, flavourful, and incredibly fresh. Nothing felt overly spicy or oily. Every dish tasted balanced, almost like a home-cooked meal prepared with care rather than something made for commercial dining.
You often hear people say food is made with love.
This genuinely felt like it.
I finished every single bite.
More Than Just a Restaurant
What makes Govinda’s Restaurant special is the food for sure, because they add the prasadam from the temple to the food,

But also, apart from the food, the entire experience is special too.
You’re not simply eating at another restaurant in London. You’re dining inside a place where spirituality, community, and kindness come together. The peaceful surroundings somehow make the meal taste even better.
There was no rush.
People sat, talked softly, enjoyed their meals, and appreciated the moment.
In a city that constantly moves, this felt refreshing.
Is Govinda’s Restaurant Worth Visiting?
Absolutely.

Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, curious about Krishna consciousness, or simply looking for delicious vegetarian food in London, I would happily recommend Govinda’s Restaurant.
You don’t need to visit only if you’re religious.
Go because the food is genuinely good.
Go because the atmosphere is calming.
Go because sometimes the best travel memories aren’t created at famous landmarks but in places that unexpectedly make you slow down and smile.
My Final Thoughts
London has thousands of places to eat.
Some are famous because they’re trendy.
Some because they’re expensive.
And then there are hidden gems like Govinda’s Restaurant , where the experience stays with you for completely different reasons.
For me, it wasn’t just about having a delicious thali.
It was about attending the aarti, feeling a sense of peace, sharing a wholesome meal, and walking out feeling lighter than when I walked in.
If I ever return to London, I already know one meal that’s definitely going on my itinerary again.
Sometimes, the best meals aren’t the fanciest ones.
They’re the ones that nourish both your body and your heart.
