Just a little update on Kurma Prabhu’s condition: He now has 15% kidney function, but though frail, is doing surprisingly well.
We have found a private nephrologist who is open to palliative care. She has also suggested two kinds of dialysis as a possibility for him.
The two main types of dialysis are hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, both of which step in to filter waste, extra salt, and fluid from the blood when the kidneys fail. Both involve having a permanent port surgically installed in the body, which will leave him open to infection and be a source of ongoing discomfort to him. Both are very time-consuming and exhausting.
For the time being, Kurma Prabhu has declined both kinds of dialysis and is simply managing his condition with Ayurvedic and allopathic medicine, and dietary restrictions. Beyond sensible measures, we feel uplifted to leave everything in Krishna’s hands and let nature take its course.
Our duration of life is already predetermined, and Kurma Prabhu wants to spend his final days peacefully remembering Srila Prabhupada 👣 and his divine associates.
