Yashoda Dulal Das (DG): Hare Krishna. PAMHO AGTSP
When I first joined the temple as a shiney young brahmacari, standards and practices were all the rave. You would regularly hear temple commanders, presidents and Istaghosti speakers quote a temple supplement that laid down the law, in practical terms, for new devotees. That beloved text was the ‘ISKCON Law Book’ (ILB). Never heard of it? Frankly, I’m not surprised.
The most recent version of ILB was a digital ‘rough draft’, released in 1997, and produced by ISKCON’s resident scholar, the late Suhotra Prabhu (ACBSP). Twenty years later our society has come little further to finalize a comprehensive corpus of ISKCON policy, which Srila Prabhupada requested be produced in the 1970’s (according to the text itself). With many emerging topics of the day, including Krishna West, Female Gurus and Vaishnava Interfaith, what an appropriate time for a 2015 version of this devotee favorite. It is significant to mention that the GBC are conscious of this need, and make mention of it on their official webpage.
I would request all persons interested to contact their local GBC, and push forward, by popular demand, Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Law Book. The ILB, 1997 version, is available in full at archive.org.
