How to Reconcile a Sentimental Heart and a Skeptical Mind (5 min video)
Devamrita Swami: It’s a very distressing affliction to have a sentimental heart and a skeptical mind. This syndrome is very prevalent in 1st world and is now even popping up in the 2nd and 3rd world.
Our heart longs for fulfilment, security and love. Simultaneously our mind can be so skeptical and cynical – how to reconcile the two? This problem has to be resolved on a level higher than the material platform through applied spiritual technology.

I listened to Devamrita Swami’s presentation with some bewilderment, waiting for the "punchline". The wisdom that we are in need of is coming from Krishna personally, and is passed on to us through the Guru Parampara, exemplified by Srila Prabhupad. The issue of “reconciling” the illusory energy is not recommended by Krishna. His final instruction to surrender under Him, giving up all other considerations is reinforced by Krishna. The three modes of material nature & material nature itself are Krishna's energy, of which we are not a part. Illusion arises from one’s desire to lord over and attempt to gratify the senses. This position is not to be tolerated by seekers of Krishna. In Chapter 15, Krishna Himself describes that the illusory energy and even the Vedic hymns (mostly meant for acquiring material satisfaction in a regulated manner) are part of the "inverted, reflected, banyan tree".
Study BG 15:1-5. Krishna says it cannot be reconciled & advises us to "Cut it down". Krishna instructs the matter of the three modes of material nature after Arjuna is already free of his earlier illusion (see BG 11.1). Mayavadis say the world is false, but the Vaishnavas understand that it is Krishna’s and under Krishna’s control. Krishna is instructing Arjuna in the higher principle of Bhakti, devotional service in full knowledge. Arjuna is both a dear friend of Krishna's and is non-envious of Krishna. Thus, Krishna is enlightening Arjuna with realization of His instructions immediately(BG 10:11) It is not meant for a “skeptical mind”=doubting soul. Mind dedicated to Krishna's service is one's friend, and mind with doubt is an enemy of the soul. Hence, Krishna declares "for the doubting soul there is happiness neither in this world nor in the next" (BG 4:40). Good faith deepening topic. Pusta Krishna das
