About Mondakini Devi
Mandakini Devi was born and brought up in Paris, where she completed her education in Ethnology from Sorbonne University in 1968. In the summer of 1969, lightning struck, she met Iskcon devotees and by end of the same year met Srila Prabhupada in London. By the beginning of 1970, she received her first initiation and within a few months she got her second. In 1971, Srila Prabhupada instructed her to marry the first devotee in Russia, Ananta Shanti Prabhu. She commenced her spiritual grhastha life in Russia, where she cooked, distributed books, deity worship and other such services. But soon the situation deteriorated in Russia and Srila Prabhupada sent her to Europe, where she carried out preaching programmes. In 1978 she got married to Madhavendra Puri Prabhu in France and began her preaching expedition with him stretching from Los Angeles to UK and South Africa. In around 1987, Madhavendra Prabhu began working while she took care of their daughter. In 1990, she resumed her education in order to work materially and soon began working as a documentalist in a French Insurance company. In the year 2011, she visited Russia upon invitation to commemorate 40th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s visit to Russia. In the year 2014, she retired and ever since has been traveling worldwide preaching and guiding the youth in Krishna consciousness
