Hare Krishna.
When i was serving @ Bhaktivedanta Manor through the 1980's there was a really sweet team of devotees there. There was something of a revolution .And this revolution was based on the Cows, the land and a very simple lifestyle. Because we had so many Indian guests they were very interested in the produce of the land. And one of Sruti's involvements with me was to help develop the Grounds, the gardens and the Cows.
On Sundays we would set up a market stall that sold produce to help support this department. We ran a Pick Your Own, we had produce from the Cows, we sold Maha Potpourris, and we sold and gave away many live plants for growing. It was a bit like a Garden Centre. And it flourished. One of the ideas we had was to actually set up a real Garden Centre selling all these types of products and employing devotees. During the time when the Manor was threatened with closure we had viewed other Farm properties of considerable acreage to develop along those lines.
The idea was to become self-sufficient, produce all our own Dairy Products and develop the concept of the Garden Centre. I think it was one of Sruti's private desires, the good life. He showed a lot of interest in this over the years i was serving at Bhaktivedanta Manor. He seemed very keen to develop Flowers produce for the Deity Worship and helped make Bhaktivedanta Manor feel like a heavenly planet by planting thousands of Bulbs, many Trees and he was very impressed with the 756 rose bushes planted. Those years in the 1980's we had the most opulent Deity Worship in Iskcon especially on Sundays and Festivals.
