Service opportunity in New Dwaraka Dhama. Srila Prabhupada’s Western World Headquarters looking for competent Bhakta Leader.

Los Angeles Hare Krsna community is exemplary in almost every aspect. Srila Prabhupada wanted devotees to come to New Dwaraka to learn the science of deity worship. The center was to set the standard of Arcana Viddhi for the rest of ISKCON centers worldwide. Thanks to the expert guidance of His Grace Svavasa Prabhu, New Dwaraka temple president, that standard has been maintained for 50 years now.

The book distribution has been exemplary as well, ranking #1 in the western world for many decades, headed by senior book distributors such as Bhrgupati Prabhu,Sacitanoy Prabhu and Prema Sankirtan Prabhu, as well as a handful of other dedicated devotees. Home to about 50 devotees, many of whom are senior Vaisnavas as well as many disciples of Srila Prabhupada. There are also many young devotees who are engaged in servicing the mission of Srila Prabhupada in various ways.

Los Angeles itself is one the biggest cities in USA, endless opportunities for preaching and spreading the Sankirtan movement.

Bhakta Leader Service Opportunity
Unfortunately, one of the most important aspects of a thriving community is lacking. Some how or another the community has failed to retain a steady devotee who is willing and capable of taking the role of a Bhakta Leader. We have quite a few young men here living in the ashrama that do not have a fixed Bhakta program for systematic training and education.

The devotees who have been here for at least a few years either are fixed in there Seva and do not have the desire or training it takes to take on the role, or are already busy with important services that to divide themselves into more services would be difficult for them to maintain.
We are looking for someone to take on as an exclusive service the role of training the new devotees that join or desire to join the temple, of which it is not rare to see. Just within the past 2 months 3 Bhaktas have joined the ashrama from book distribution and Harinam Sankirtan.

What’s to be expected from potential Bhakta Leader

We want some one who has been chanting 16 rounds and following the 4 regulative principles for at least 2 years

Who is able to speak fluent English and can relate with young new devotees, teaching them Vaisnava etiquette and how to conduct oneself as a follower of ISKCON

Engaging the Bhaktas in a systematic study of Srila Prabupadas books, Sloka memorization, and how to give classes according to the teachings within the books

To imbibe within the new devotees the importance of regulated Sadhana such as the full morning program and a fixed number of rounds

Training Bhaktas in a variety of services such as cleaning, cooking, Harinam Sankirtan , Book distribution, etc.

Room and Board

ISKCON Los Angeles will provide the Bhakta Leader as well as the new devotees under his care all amenities for living simply and healthy. This includes a room (or rooms) in the ashrama, Prasadam 3 times a day, and what ever one needs for maintenance.

A Call for Action

Lord Caitanya wanted his Holy Name preached in every town and village throughout the world, and Srila Prabhupada has fulfilled that prophecy. However, there is still much work to be done.
