Maha means \u201cgreat\u201d and mantra means \u201csacred chant for deliverance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of all mantras in the Vedas, one is called the maha-mantra, or great mantra:<\/p>\n

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna
\nKrishna Krishna, Hare Hare
\nHare Rama, Hare Rama
\nRama Rama, Hare Hare.<\/p>\n

The words \u201cHare\u201d (pronounced ha-ray), \u201cKrishna\u201d (pronounced krish-na), and \u201cRama\u201d (rhymes with \u201cdrama\u201d), are Sanskrit words. \u201cHare\u201d is an address to God\u2019s energy, known as Radha, and \u201cKrishna\u201d is name of God meaning \u201cHe who is attractive to everyone.\u201d \u201cRama\u201d means \u201cone who gives pleasure and enjoys life.\u201d<\/p>\n
