On 3rd March 2012, during Gaura Purnima Festivals HH Jayapataka Swami, HH Gopal Krishna Goswami, HH Bhakti Purosottama Swami and HH Bhakti Narisimha Swami was distributing gift, garland and Mahaprasadam for Mayapur sankirtan Devotees, those who were distributing Srila Prabhupada Books in the year 2011-12.<\/p>\n

Mayapur temple was second in the whole world in terms of books distributed in year 2011-2012 and Delhi was in the first position. HH Gopal Krishna Maharaj glorified Mayapur Sankirtan devotees and marked them the real number one. Mayapur book distribution goes on throughout the year, some time door to door, where as Delhi devotees do it mostly in Book Marathon times.<\/p>\n

At present there are 10 travelling sankirtan parties in 10 buses each having Gaur Nitai deities and 91 brahmacharis are serving there. The Sankirtan department is nicely maintained and all the devotees are taken care of nicely and they all are very happily doing their seva.<\/p>\n

The department also operate bookstalls in the Temple hall and campus. A group of senior devotees in the department cultivate people who buy books. The book distribution marathon during December is an important annual feature of this department. It was first started in 1992 by the combined efforts of HG Naresvara Prabhu from BBT, HH Jayapataka Swami, HH Bhakti Caru Swami and HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami.<\/p>\n

Srila Prabhupada presents Krishna consciousness in a very simple and practical way in his books. His spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saravati Thakur referred to distribution of Krishna conscious books as Brihad Mridanga, the greater drum and instructed Srila Prabhupada to print books whenever he got money. In accordance with that instruction Srila Prabhupada wanted books to be distributed in every town and village.<\/p>\n

I don’t want money, or anything else, I simply want to see that my books are being distributed – Srila Prabhupada.<\/p>\n
