\nInstitute for Science and Spirituality (ISS) in association with the Indian
\nKnowledge Systems (IKS) Division of the Ministry of Education, Govt of India
\nhas organised a two-day international conference,\u00a0\u091c\u093f\u091c\u094d\u091e\u093e\u0938\u093e-2022 on the theme
\n\u201cScience and Philosophy in Indian Knowledge Systems\u201d at Noida International
\nUniversity on 17 th and 18 th December.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nIKS is a term for India\u2019s vast knowledge traditions popularized by Ministry of
\nEducation, Govt of India. It can be classified into chaturdasha (14) vidya and
\nchatuhshasthi (64) kala as known in ancient India. The subject of enquiry
\nspans practically all branches of human enquiry, viz., architecture and
\nengineering, pure sciences, earth sciences, biosciences, literature,
\nphilosophy, law and justice, grammar, mathematics and astronomy, metrics,
\nagriculture, mining, metallurgy, trade and commerce, Ayurveda and yoga,
\nmedicine and life sciences, geography, military science, etc.
\n\u00a0
\nAfter a rigorous review process, around 45 papers were short-listed for oral
\npresentations in the conference. The scientific discussion spanned over three
\nprimary areas, i.e.,\u00a0Fundamental Sciences in IKS, IKS-based ancient
\ntechnologies and philosophical foundation of IKS. More than 250 participants
\nattended the event in person and more than 100 attended virtually.

\nProf. Stuart Hameroff, an internationally acclaimed researcher in
\nConsciousness studies at the University of Arizona was the chief guest at the
\nevent. Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology,
\nMandi enthralled the audience with his fabulous reflection on Bhagavat
\nSamkhya's perspectives of matter and mind.\u00a0

\nOther notable guests of this event were Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi,
\nChairman, Higher Education Council, Uttar Pradesh, Prof Ganti S. Murthy,
\nNational Coordinator, IKS Division, Ministry of Education, Govt of India, Prof.
\nVirendra Kumar Vijay
\nIREDA Chair Professor, CRDT, IIT Delhi & National Coordinator – Unnat
\nBharat Abhiyan (UBA), MHRD, Govt. of India and Prof. Uma Bharadwaj, VC,
\nNoida International University.

\nTalks by Dr. Raj Vedam from the Hindu University of America, Prof. C.
\nUpendra Rao from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof. Nirmalya Guha from IIT
\nBHU, Dr. M.A. Alwar from the University of Mysuru, Prof. Ithamar Theodor
\nfrom Zefat Academic College, Israel and many others made everyone reflect
\ndeeply into the scientific and philosophical heritage of\u00a0ancient India. Moreover,
\nseveral avenues of modern scientific investigations based on our ancient
\nknowledge systems were chalked out for further scientific and philosophical
