{"id":106654,"date":"2023-03-02T11:31:04","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T10:31:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=106654"},"modified":"2023-03-02T20:40:00","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T19:40:00","slug":"hare-krishna-chant-startles-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dandavats.com\/?p=106654","title":{"rendered":"Hare Krishna Chant startles Liverpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Nimai Suchak<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A series of events honouring George Harrison&#8217;s spiritual life were held in Liverpool in celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspired by Pradyumna Das, who credits George Harrison for his attraction to Krishna consciousness, devotees from around the country put on a number of special events in the Spiritual Beatle\u2019s birth city, including an exclusive interview with Gurudas Prabhu, who flew into the UK especially for the occasion.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Liverpool Philharmonic:\u00a0My Sweet Lord, The Spiritual Journey of George Harrison.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Devotees took to Liverpool\u2019s iconic Philharmonic Hall to share George\u2019s songs, lyrics, recorded interviews with George. This was weaved together into a narration by Pradyumna\u00a0Das, sharing spiritual insights of the songs inspiring his personal\u00a0journey.\u00a0A special mention was made of George Harrison&#8217;s gift of\u00a0Bhaktivedanta\u00a0Manor, which this year is celebrating its 50th anniversary.\u00a0The audience participated in kirtan, bought copies of Chant &#038; Be Happy and received prasadam cookies.<br \/>\n<img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/fYsBEaL.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\nAt the Liverpool Central Library, Gurudas Prabhu gifted sets of Srimad Bhagavatam, Caitanya Caritamrta, Bhagavad-gita As It Is to City Mayor Joanne Anderson, as an addition to library\u2019s collection. Guests at this private event included members of the Cabinet, the media, leaders of the city\u2019s museums, members of the university and religious institutions and others. Mukunda Murphy sang songs by George, devotees led Kirtan and shared prasadam cookies. <\/p>\n<p><img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/o1hCJ8i.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\nOn the day of George\u2019s actual birthday, The Beatles Story\u00a0hosted a panel discussion with Gurudas Prabhu, Sakshi Gopal Prabhu, and Sripati Prabhu who shared stories and insights to George Harrison\u2019s spiritual life. Birju and Kishori Jani led interactive mrdanga and kirtan workshops, Mukunda Murphy sang songs by George, guests purchased Chant &#038; Be Happy books and received prasadam cookies. <\/p>\n<p><img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/k2TzDwQ.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\n<img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/dxGczmi.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\nAt the Liverpool Beatles Museum on Mathew Street, right next to the iconic Cavern Club Roag Best, owner of the museum interviewed Gurudas Prabhu. It was a candid and engaging exchange where the enthusiastic audience proceeded to ask many questions about Gurudas Prabhu\u2019s connection to George, as well as about Krishna consciousness and the Hare Krishna Mantra. Caitanya Cintamani and team lead kirtan for an hour before the interview, while Mukunda sang George\u2019s songs after the interview. Guests purchased a number of Chant &#038; Be Happy books and received prasadam cookies. Gurudas Prabhu was then invited to unveil the museum\u2019s world reveal of George\u2019s Om pendant. <\/p>\n<p><img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/3JWn0TQ.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\n<img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/sBLMzsM.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\nSimultaneously, devotees from around the country converged upon Liverpool City Centre for harinama, sharing cookies and distributing a number of books.<br \/>\n<img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/2weSE60.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><br \/>\n<img src= \"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/mvc9Pzf.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before leaving Liverpool, Pradyumna and Gurudas Prabhu were invited onto the Sunday breakfast show on BBC Radio Merseyside to share the celebrations and more about Gurudas Prabhu\u2019s relationship with George Harrison.
