\n\t\t\tHema Lavanya Das: This article is dedicated to Krishna Kishora prabhu ACBSP. We sincerely hope that after reading this article, Krsna willing, he will find a way to beat his cancer and thereby prolong his devotional service in the association of his family and other devotees for many more years to come.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFor most people a diagnosis of cancer almost certainly means a death sentence. A couple of years ago when I started to research health issues deeply, I found more and more evidence for natural cancer cures which are not only effective but surprisingly cheap. Of course the more effective a cure is the more it is suppressed by the medical establishment.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWho would think with all the fear mongering and all the unsuccessful cancer treatments, (sometimes even Ayurveda has no answers), that one of the most successful and most suppressed cures for cancer is a simple vitamin found in apricot seeds and bitter almonds.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOf course if you start researching Vitamin B17 (other names are Amygdalin or Laetrile) you will be instantly confronted with negative articles such as the one below:<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t“Amygdalin <\/strong>… initially isolated from…… bitter almonds<\/a><\/u>…… (and) several other related species including apricot<\/a><\/u>. …………Studies have found such compounds to be dangerously toxic as well as being clinically ineffective in the treatment of cancer. Taken by mouth they are potentially lethal because certain enzymes (in particular, glucosidases that occur in the gut and in various kinds of seeds, edible or inedible) act on them to produce cyanide<\/a><\/u>.[4]<\/a>[5]<\/a>[6]<\/a>[7]<\/a>[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/u> The promotion of laetrile to treat cancer has been described in the medical literature as a canonical example of quackery<\/a><\/u>,[9]<\/a>[10]<\/a>[11]<\/a><\/sup><\/u> and as "the slickest, most sophisticated, and certainly the most remunerative<\/a><\/u> cancer quack promotion in medical history."[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/u> http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vitamin_b17<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhen I read this I immediately knew it wasn’t true, because since more than 50 years by now I have been eating the seeds of apricots, bitter almonds, apples and many other natural foods containing Amygdalin and I am still living. Sometimes I am asked by someone if I didn’t know that bitter almonds are poisonous? If they were I would have died long ago, but here I am, a living example that they are NOT.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo make a long story short I continued my deep research and found especially two e-books which I consider well researched and full of valuable information on the subject. The first of the two, “World without cancer” by G Edward Griffin, deals not only with the true and proper science but also with the politics surrounding Vitamin B17, and the second book, “Cancer Step Outside the Box” by Ty Bollinger, deals also with some other natural cancer cures that are most successful amongst many.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI know personally some ISKCON devotees who cured their cancer simply with Vitamin B17. One of them is Antaryami prabhu ACBSP, who kindly allowed me to publish his testimony on this forum:<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t“I will only say what I experienced when I lost my voice to what at first one doctor said was only laryngitis. Four and a half years ago I was working in an ice cream factory. I was the supervisor over seeing all ice cream makings etc. For an unknown reason I came down with a kind of like sore throat, I talked like I had a frog in my throat. As it got worst I could barely be heard by anyone due to its fast progression.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI tried many things to cure it, nothing worked. One doctor said it was due to my working in the freezer on and off, this was my job at times also. Well it got so bad I just quit the high paying joband moved to another state to seek a work outside. But my voice was so bad I could not even do an interview well.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI moved to Honolulu Hawaii, here I had health insurance from Uncle Sam. Also hoping I could swim my way to better health, I got worse. I went to an outreach center to arrange an appointment to see a doctor. The doctor said it looks like cancer, but thata biopsy was needed to be sure,I said no.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWell, one week later I couldn’t breathe anymore at all. So an emergency operation was done to allow me to breathe, as wellthe biopsy was taken. What the report said was that I have malignant cancer stage-5on my larynx, voice box. Still in ICU recovering from the trachea operation, I gave permission to do a laryngectomy. (Laryngectomy is the removal of the larynx<\/a> and separation of the airway from the mouth<\/a>, nose<\/a> and esophagus<\/a>. The laryngectomee breathes through an opening in the neck.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNow here's the part I wish Iknew about four years before the operation.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDue to the major surgery I was given one month to heal some and then start with Radiation treatments followed by Chemo therapy. The radiation treatments were to be 35 treatmentsin all.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhen I reached 25 treatments I decidedto stop, though this was not liked by the doctors etc. Still I was to receive chemo in30-days, hell, what to do. Reading all the side effects resulting from chemo therapy, I did not want to do it, soI sent out a desperate help message to allcontacts I knew, asking for help in this matter.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne devotee out of all responses said: Antaryami prabhu there's a vitamin called B17.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt's on www.ebay.com<\/a><\/u> check it out it says B17 cures cancer. Hell you've got nothing to lose,order now.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI ordereda 3-years supply,had it sent fast, air mail. I got it in one week. I took all the pills and put them into a coffee grinder and made a powder of them. Then I mixed it all into a one gallon milk jug of chocolate milk. There was no real taste left in my mouth after the radiation treatments.(My ability to taste came back after 3-months.) Each day I drank<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tone 8-ounce cup of it, till it was all gone, every drop. I read the instructions on the info sheet that came with it and it said totake not more then 3-tablets aday. Well what the hell, I had cancer and the oncologist said I was going to die, a 90% assurance of death. So I gave itmy one last chance, it will cure me or I will die of over dose, or die of cancer?<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI prayed to Sri Dhanvantari, Srila Prabhupada, their lordships, all of them, day and night.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWell I did not feel any side effects from the B17 over dose at all. I thought that maybe it was nonsense junk- B17,another $150.00 down the drain. The day came fast to check on how far the cancer had spread and start the chemo therapy. They took blood and ex-rays etc.The next day<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI was sure to die from chemo. But the oncologist and doctors said to me that I had no cancer in my body anymore at all.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThey asked me if I had taken any drugs. I said no. They were dumb-founded, just 30-days ago I had stage-5 malignant cancerthroughout my body and now nothing, no cancer at all.My thoughts thenwere: Don't ask and don't tell. No chemo was to be given to me and I was cured, WOW, thank you Krsna and Prabhupada. Ok, so I don't have a voice anymore, but I lived and can eat prasadam and all the rest, AGTSP and their Lordships and Sri Dhanvantari.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSo to date, Itell all about B17. Now on e-bay there are more powerfulB17 tablets and less powerful, you decide which you feel is yourkarma for health.”<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAccording to Antaryami prabhu you can buy B17 at www.ebay.com<\/a><\/u> or www.amazon.com<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tand he has, of course, no affiliation with any of those companies or sellers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis testimony of Antaryami prabhu further confirms my initial suspicion that articles like the one above in Wikipedia, describing Vitamin B17 as a deadly poison and Amygdalin therapy as “quackery” are deliberate lies in order to perpetuate the myth of the multi-billion dollar cancer-death-industry that the only choice for a suffering cancer patient is to take to their “cut burn and poison” methods (which are cancer causing themselves). In this way millions of poor patients are scared into submission to fill the pockets of the cancer-barons.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFurthermore Antaryami prabhu also confirmed what I already knew from other testimonies that even mega-overdoses of Vitamin B17 have no bad side effects.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFor those who still aren’t convinced, even after this enlivening account from one of our ISKCON devotees, that cancer is really easily curable, here is an excerpt from the e-book “Cancer Step Outside the Box”, (Chapter 6 – NON-Toxic Treatments, page 169), delineating the real science behind Vitamin B17:<\/p>\n

\t\t\t“When dad died back in 1996, I began my cancer journey. The first<\/p>\n

\t\t\talternative cancer treatment which I discovered was Vitamin B17,<\/p>\n

\t\t\talso known as Laetrile. I saw a video of a champion arm wrestler<\/p>\n

\t\t\tnamed Jason Vale who had been cured of cancer by eating the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tseeds from apples and apricots (which contain vitamin B17) and read<\/p>\n

\t\t\tlots of good information on his website. The logic and science of<\/p>\n

\t\t\thow and why vitamin B17 kills cancer cells was fascinating to me.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tLaetrile therapy is based upon the theory that cancer is result of a<\/p>\n

\t\t\tnutritional deficiency, and is based upon the trophoblast theory of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcancer.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tIn the 1940’s, Dr. Ernst T. Krebs, Sr. and his son (Dr. E.T. Krebs, Jr.)<\/p>\n

\t\t\tand other doctors were involved in researching Beard’s thesis on<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthe trophoblast theory of cancer and they affirmed that he was<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcorrect. In 1949, the elder Krebs wrote a paper on the pregnancy<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttoxemias and the role of the pancreas and trophoblast in these<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdisorders. The following year, Dr. Krebs and his son published a<\/p>\n

\t\t\tpaper The Unitarian or Trophoblastic Thesis of Cancer, in the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tMedical Record, New York.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tIn the following years, the father and son team investigated coenzymes,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tand the possibility that cancer results from a vitamin<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdeficiency disease. In the early 1950’s, they theorized that cancer<\/p>\n

\t\t\twas caused by the lack of an essential food compound in modern man’s<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdiet, identified as part of the nitriloside family which is found<\/p>\n

\t\t\tin over 1200 edible plants. Krebs learned of the kingdom of Hunza in<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthe Himalayan Mountains of Northern Pakistan, who were said to be<\/p>\n

\t\t\t“cancer\u2010free.”<\/p>\n

\t\t\tDoctors Krebs knew that they ate huge quantities of apricots, but<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthey did not believe that the fruit contained any cancer fighting<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsubstances. Until they learned that the Hunzakuts also eat the pits<\/p>\n

\t\t\tof the apricot seeds, which are one of the richest sources of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tnitrilosides!<\/p>\n

\t\t\tNitrilosides are especially prevalent in the seeds of apricots,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tpeaches, apples, millet, bean sprouts, buckwheat, and other fruits<\/p>\n

\t\t\tand nuts, including bitter almonds. Dr. Krebs was able to extract<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcertain glycosides from plants which contained nitrilosides, and<\/p>\n

\t\t\teventually applied for a patent for the process of producing a<\/p>\n

\t\t\tmetabolite form of these glycosides for clinical use. He named it<\/p>\n

\t\t\t“Laetrile<\/em>.” (LAE<\/strong>\u2010vo\u2010mandeloniTRILE<\/strong>\u2010beta\u2010glucuronoside).<\/p>\n

\t\t\tIt took several years and actual clinical testing around the world<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbefore a model was proposed rationalizing the utility of Laetrile in<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthe prevention as well as the treatment of cancer, when it received<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthe name “Vitamin B17<\/em>.” Now, it is important to remember that a<\/p>\n

\t\t\tvitamin is a co<\/strong>\u2010<\/strong>enzyme<\/strong>, which basically means that it must be<\/p>\n

\t\t\tassociated with an enzyme in order for the enzyme to function<\/p>\n

\t\t\toptimally. We know that the pancreatic and other enzymes are<\/p>\n

\t\t\treliant upon several essential co\u2010factors and co\u2010enzymes. Let’s<\/p>\n

\t\t\tremember this co\u2010enzyme information as we learn a little bit more<\/p>\n

\t\t\tabout the Hunzakuts.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tThe Hunzakuts consume between 100\u2010200 times more B17 in their<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdiet than the average American, due mainly to eating the seeds of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tapricots and also lots of millet. Interestingly, there is no such thing<\/p>\n

\t\t\tas money in Hunza. A man’s wealth is measured by the number of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tapricot trees he owns. And the most coveted food is the pit of the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tapricot seed, one of the highest sources of B17 on earth. Visiting<\/p>\n

\t\t\tteams of doctors found the Hunzacuts to be cancer free. One of the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tfirst medical teams to study the Hunza was headed by world renown<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBritish surgeon Dr. Robert McCarrison. Writing in the AMA<\/p>\n

\t\t\tJournal January 7, 1922 he reported: “The Hunza has no known<\/em><\/p>\n

\t\t\tincidence of cancer. They have an abundant crop of apricots. These<\/em><\/p>\n

\t\t\tthey dry in the sun and use largely in their food<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBut why haven’t you heard of vitamin B17? It seems so simple! Well,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthe fact of the matter is that the Cancer Industry has suppressed<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthis information and has even made it illegal to sell B17. Big Medicine<\/p>\n

\t\t\thas mounted highly successful “scare” campaigns based on the fact<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthat vitamin B17 contains quantities of “deadly” cyanide. This is<\/p>\n

\t\t\tpatently false. Studies show that vitamin B17 is harmless to healthy<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttissue.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tHere’s why: <\/strong>each molecule of B17 contains one unit of hydrogen<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcyanide, one unit of benzaldehyde and two of glucose (sugar<\/em>)<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttightly locked together. In order for the hydrogen cyanide to<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbecome dangerous it is first necessary to unlock the molecule to<\/p>\n

\t\t\trelease it, a trick that can only be performed by an enzyme called<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbeta\u2010glucosidase, which is present all over the human body only in<\/p>\n

\t\t\tminute quantities, but in huge quantities at only one place: cancer<\/strong><\/p>\n

\t\t\tcells.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\t\t\tThus the hydrogen cyanide is unlocked only at the cancer site with<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdrastic results, which become utterly devastating to the cancer cells<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsince the benzaldehyde unit unlocks at the same time. The cancer<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcells get a double whammy of cyanide and benzaldeyhde!<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBenzaldehyde is a deadly poison in its own right, but when it teams<\/p>\n

\t\t\tup with cyanide, the result is a poison 100 times more deadly than<\/p>\n

\t\t\teither in isolation. The cancer cells are literally obliterated<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBut what about danger to the rest of the body’s cells? Another<\/p>\n

\t\t\tenzyme, rhodanese, always present in far larger quantities than the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tunlocking enzyme beta\u2010glucosidase in healthy tissues, has the ability<\/p>\n

\t\t\tto completely break down both cyanide and benzaldehyde into a<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthiocyanate (a harmless substance) and salicylate (which is a pain<\/p>\n

\t\t\tkiller similar to aspirin). Interestingly, malignant cancer cells contain<\/p>\n

\t\t\tno rhodanese at all, leaving them completely at the mercy of the<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttwo deadly poisons. This whole process is known as selective<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttoxicity, since only the cancer cells are specifically targeted and<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdestroyed. Amazing, huh?<\/p>\n

\t\t\tNow remember that I earlier referred to vitamin B17 as a co\u2010enzyme<\/p>\n

\t\t\tand said that this therapy is based, in part, on the trophoblast<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttheory of cancer? The trophoblast theory focuses on the importance<\/p>\n

\t\t\tof pancreatic enzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin, and amylase) to<\/p>\n

\t\t\tdigest the protective coating around cancer cells. Here’s the<\/strong><\/p>\n

\t\t\tconnection between this theory and vitamin B17<\/strong>: In the presence of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcertain inhibitors in our blood, trypsin is inactivated and must be<\/p>\n

\t\t\tacted upon by hydrogen cyanide to become active again. On this<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbasis, vitamin B17 acts as a co\u2010enzyme to trypsin, since it provides<\/p>\n

\t\t\thydrogen cyanide, a harmless molecule, which reactivates the<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttrypsin which is necessary to digest the protective coating of cancer<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcells. Fascinating, isn’t it?<\/p>\n

\t\t\tThe hundreds of clinical studies conducted by many competent<\/p>\n

\t\t\tphysicians around the world, including those directed by Dr. Emesto<\/p>\n

\t\t\tContreras at the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Mexico, give us complete<\/p>\n

\t\t\tconfidence that B17 therapy poses no threat to normal cells. This is<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbad <\/strong>news for the Cancer Industry. Apricot seeds are cheap…real<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcheap…not nearly as expensive as their latest chemotherapy drug<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcocktail.”<\/p>\n

\t\t\tFor prevention or even for the cure of cancer you can simply eat foods containing B17 the only difference is that bigger amounts are needed for the cure:<\/p>\n

\t\t\tVitamin B17 as a Preventative<\/p>\n

\t\t\tVitamin B17 is one of the main sources of food in cultures such as the<\/p>\n

\t\t\tEskimos, the Hunzas, the Abkasians and many more. Did you know that within<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthese tribes there has never been a reported case of cancer? According to<\/p>\n

\t\t\tDr. Krebs, we need a minimum of 100 mg of vitamin B17 (the equivalent of<\/p>\n

\t\t\tabout seven apricots seeds) to nearly guarantee a cancer free life. Foods<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthat contain vitamin B-17 are as follows:<\/p>\n

\t\t\tKERNELS OR SEEDS OF FRUIT: The highest concentration of vitamin B17 to<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbe found in nature, aside from bitter almonds. Apple, apricot, cherry,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tnectarine, peach, pear, plum, prune.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBEANS: broad (Vicia faba), Burma, chickpeas, lentils (sprouted), Lima,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tMung beans (sprouted), Rangoon, scarlet runner.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tNUTS: Bitter almond, macadamia, cashew.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tBERRIES: Almost all wild berries. Blackberry, chokeberry, Christmas<\/p>\n

\t\t\tberry, cranberry, elderberry, raspberry, strawberry.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tSEEDS: Chia, flax, sesame.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tGRASSES: Acacia, alfalfa (sprouted), aquatic, Johnson, milkweed, Sudan,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tminus, wheat grass, white dover.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tGRAINS: oat groats, barley, brown rice, buckwheat groats, chia, flax,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tmillet, rye, vetch, wheat berries.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tMISCELLANEOUS: bamboo shoots, fuschia plant, sorghum, wild hydrangea,<\/p>\n

\t\t\tyew tree (needles, fresh leaves).<\/p>\n

\t\t\tTwo rules of thumb: According to Dr. Krebs, the basic concept is that<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsufficient daily B17 may be obtained by following either of two<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsuggestions:<\/p>\n

\t\t\tFirst, eating all the B17-containing fruits whole (seeds included), but not<\/p>\n

\t\t\teating more of the seeds by themselves than you would be eating if you ate<\/p>\n

\t\t\tthem in the whole fruit. Example: if you eat three apples a day, the seeds<\/p>\n

\t\t\tin the three apples are sufficient B17. You would not eat a pound of apple<\/p>\n

\t\t\tseeds.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tSecond, one peach or apricot kernel per 10 lbs of body weight is believed to<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbe more than sufficient as a normal safeguard in cancer prevention, although<\/p>\n

\t\t\tprecise numbers may vary from person to person in accordance with individual<\/p>\n

\t\t\tmetabolism and dietary habits. A 170-lb man, for example, might consume 17<\/p>\n

\t\t\tapricot or peach kernels per day and receive a biologically reasonable<\/p>\n

\t\t\tamount of Vitamin B17.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tAnd two important notes: Certainly, you can consume too much of anything.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tToo many kernels or seeds, for example, can be expected to produce<\/p>\n

\t\t\tunpleasant side effects. These natural foods should be consumed in<\/p>\n

\t\t\tbiologically rational amounts (no more than 30 to 35 kernels per day).<\/p>\n

\t\t\tHigh concentrations of B17 are obtained by eating the natural foods in<\/p>\n

\t\t\ttheir raw or sprouting stage. This does not mean that moderate cooking and<\/p>\n

\t\t\tother tampering will destroy the B17 content. Foods cooked at a temperature<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsufficient for a Chinese dinner, for example, will not lose their B17<\/p>\n

\t\t\tcontent.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tHere’s a bit of trivia: the bitter almond tree, a wonderful<\/p>\n

\t\t\tsource of nitrilosides, was banned from the United States in 1995.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tOn the internet there is certainly more misinformation about B17 that good info, just to scare people away from it. A cured patient is a lost patient for the cancer-death-industry and therefore I don't doubt for a single moment that they will engage many writers to put out misinform about it in many different ways just to confuse and scare people to death.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tSrila Prabhupada always said: "Judge by the results", so I am doing just that.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tI am 55 years old and ate all these B17 containing Kernels like seeds of apricot, apple, bitter almond since my childhood without any bad effects on my health.<\/p>\n

\t\t\tSince quite some time now, I drink a “smoothy” every morning:<\/p>\n

\t\t\t4 small lemons (together with skin and seeds, lots of vitamin C)<\/p>\n

\t\t\t3 small apples, (together with skin and seeds with vitamin B17)<\/p>\n

\t\t\t2 spoonful flax seeds with vitamin B17<\/p>\n

\t\t\t2 spoonful sesame seeds with vitamin B17<\/p>\n

\t\t\t1 pineapple (lots of vitamin C)<\/p>\n
